Trump to Quit Business and Focus on U.S Presidency

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has said that he would separate himself from his business and focus on governance when sworn-in as President.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr. Trump disclosed this in a series of tweet, amid rising concerns on conflicts between his business and the presidency.


“I will be holding a major news conference in New York City with my children on Dec. 15 to discuss the fact that I will be leaving my great business in total. “This is in order to fully focus on running the country in order to ‘Make America Great Again!

“While I am not mandated to do this under the law, I feel it is visually important, as President, to in no way have a conflict of interest with my various businesses.

“Hence, legal documents are being crafted which take me completely out of business operations. “The Presidency is a far more important task!” the president-elect said.

It should be noted that Trump reportedly has interests in no fewer than 500 businesses currently.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that 8 vehicles (2 commercial Toyota hummer buses, 1 Dyna truck, 1 tanker carrying petrol, 1 ford bus and 1 Toyota Corrolla) including one motorcycle, were involved in the accident.

According to eyewitness accounts, some security agents and officials of FRSC watched helplessly as the victims were burnt to death as there was no fire service station at Abudu town, headquarters of Orhiomwon local government area.

The FRSC Edo State Sector Command on Friday morning, revealed that five other persons sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

UPDATE: 30 Confirmed Dead as Explosion from Female Suicide Bombers Hit Adamawa Market

Two women suicide bombers blew themselves up at a bustling market in northeast Nigeria’s Madagali town on Friday morning, killing at least 30 people and wounding 67, an army spokesman told The Associated Press.

The attack comes as Nigeria’s government claims it is routing the Boko Haram Islamic extremists blamed for the blasts.


The explosions occurred on the edge of the extremist group’s Sambisa Forest stronghold, which Nigeria’s military has been bombing ahead of ground assaults. Since the military has dislodged the insurgents from towns and villages this year, they have been attacking soft targets.

Madagali was liberated last year after months in the hands of Boko Haram. It is 150 kilometers (95 miles) southeast of the biggest northeastern city, Maiduguri.

Friday’s blasts struck simultaneously at opposite ends of the market selling grains and vegetables, according to Ahmadu Gulak, a driver who was buying tea there. Rescue workers evacuated the bodies of 30 people and took 67 wounded victims to a nearby hospital, an army spokesman, Maj. Badere Akintoye, said.

A bus station near the same market was targeted by two women suicide bombers who killed at least 30 people in December 2015.

In June, Boko Haram extremists opened fire on mourners at a funeral in Madagali, killing 18 people. The attacks continue despite government and military assertions that the insurgents are on the run. President Muhammadu Buhari had declared the extremist group was “technically defeated” in December 2015.

Last week, a year later, he said a multinational force from Nigeria and neighboring states is readying to “move simultaneously and spontaneously for us to see the end of Boko Haram.”

While speaking in an exclusive interview with State House correspondents in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, gave the hint that the Federal Government may exhume the body of 2016 Batch ‘B’ corps member, Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo, who died at the Kano Orientation Camp recently for autopsy.


We reported it earlier that President Muhammadu Buhari had, ordered an independent investigation into the death of the corps member barely 24 hours after the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, announced that the young lady died of renal sepsis occasioned by urinary tract infection.

According to Punch, the minister revealed that the President’s order was not an indication that the president had no confidence in the report by the NYSC, adding that the investigation ordered by the president would only complement the one carried out by the NYSC, since the first investigation did not include autopsy.

The minister said, “The report given by NYSC is normal and natural, that after investigation they must present their own report on what has happened. “But in view of the fact that there are many versions of what led to the death of the NYSC member, it would be fair to look at another version of what happened, to be sure of what actually transpired.

“It doesn’t have to do with not trusting the process but to gauge the report alongside other opinion; then we will now be able to tell Nigerians that these are the circumstances surrounding her death.

“Don’t forget that the report of the NYSC had no autopsy; but an independent investigation will require an autopsy. “The autopsy, alongside the report, will fortify the conclusion the government will make.”

Deadly Armed Robbers Terrorizing Residents in Gombe State Finally Arrested

The Police in Gombe State says it has arrested a group of suspected armed robbers terrorising the people of Gombe metropolis and environs.

A statement by the state police spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Usman, said the suspects were arrested following intelligence surveillance operation led by the Divisional Police Officer, Gombe Low-Cost Division, DSP Safiyanu Saidu.

It said, “Three suspects were arrested as the command is equally trailing another fleeing suspect named Kabiru, alias Dankebbi.”

Usman said the suspects, who were found with dangerous weapons, have confessed to have carried out many robbery operations in Gombe area.

It said, “As investigation on the matter is going on, the public is advised to be very vigilant and report any suspicious persons or people around them.”

APC Members Massively Defect to PDP Because of Buhari

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in large number over what they describe as dismal performance of their former party at both state and national levels.


The decampees were from Birnin Kudu, the local government area of former governor Sule Lamido, DailyTrust reports.

Receiving the decampees over the weekend in Birnin Kudu, the North-West PDP national vice chairman, Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure, said they were formerly members of the PDP.

Kazaure said he was not surprised over their defection, stressing that no sensible politician would give a second thought to abandoning the APC because of its failure.

"Two thieves were burnt alive along Onitsha-Owerri road by angry mob last week. "One of the thieves was given the beating of his life before getting burnt have surfaced. He was beaten by angry mob. At a point when they were trying to set him ablaze he refused to catch fire.

"Despite being in a pool of pool after receiving a terrible beating,he stood up and ran away. The angry mob followed him up and gave him more beating. "He was still very strong until they removed the rings on his fingers and gave him additional beating. It was at this point that he caught fire when tire and fuel were used on him."
