1:06:00 pm
No comments
Founder and Chief Executive officer,
Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) Plc, Mr. Austin Okere has noted that the company
has the potential to become the next Google, given the business prospects of
her new business model, CWG 2.0.
The CWG boss made this point while
addressing the company’s shareholders at the 9th Annual General
Meeting (AGM) held on Thursday, 19th of June, in Lagos. Continue...
The event had in attendance the
company’s chairman, Chief Willie Belonwu, Executive Directors: Chief Executive
Officer, Mr. Austin Okere, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Phillip Obioha, Chief
Technology Officer, Mr. James Agada; Non-Executive Directors, Mr.
AbiodunFawunmi and Mr. Ravi Sharma, represented by Alternate Director, Mr.
kunleAyodeji; company Secretary, Barrister OkeyEjibe, shareholders, the media
and other stakeholders.
In his opening statement, the company’s
Chairman, Chief Willie Belonwu observed that “CWG Plc has
been able to record strong top line financial figures in the past year, against
a volatile backdrop of increments in commodity prices, tariffs and a steady
depreciation of the local currency (at the interbank market), coupled with
steady decrease in the margins of products and services. The results which
showed strong and positive performances across all financial indices also
confirmed the company’s position as the foremost Pan African ICT services
Provider”
In reference to the future of the
company, Chief Belonwu noted that CWG Plc plans to further tap into the growth
potentials of emerging African Economies, through the provision of cloud based
IT solutions, in the bid to attain her vision to be the number 1 IT utility
enabler in Africa.
The Company’s financial scorecard revealed
that her revenues grew by 10% while Profit After Tax (PAT) increased by a whopping
81% showing strong efficiency of operations. The result revealed a Return on
Equity of 13% in 2013, as against 11% in 2012 and Returns on Capital Employed
(ROCE) of 13% against 7% in 2012. The
Company’s Asset increased by N2bn to N13.4bn as at 2013 year end, while
Shareholders’ equity increased by a remarkable 66% to N5.0bn in the same
period. The Company finished with a strong cash position of over N1.1bn at the
year end, with a 38% increase in cash from operation over 2012.
Shareholders at the event were informed
of the payment of their 8 kobo dividends per unit share, the same day.
According to Mr. Okere, CWG 2.0 is a
subscription business model and driven by the quest to help Small Medium
Enterprises (SMEs) grow and make notable social impact. This includes
Openshopen, a website that affords shop owners open their own virtual store
online and SMERP, an enterprise resource planning solution that will help
business owners manage their business inventories on a subscription basis.
According to him, Openshopen will allow
business owners to open their own online virtual stores which will give their
businesses visibility leverages. “If a buyer searches for a shop that sells
spare parts in your location online, for example, he can get to see your store
address and get to buy from you without any stress, if you have registered your
presence online” he said. Moreover, the solution will democratize domain
possession and give Micro, Small and Medium business owners the platform to
compete with known online stores at cheaper rates.
Mr. Okere also pointed out that these
solutions will have significant social impacts on the society. According to
him, there are about 17.7 million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in
Nigeria. “With their own online stores and with the aid of enterprise resource
planning, we will empower SMEs to be able to keep their own records. Then, they
can present their records to get credits from the banks. With these loans, they
can be able to expand their businesses. If they are able to expand their
businesses, each of them can employ one more person. If each of them employs
one more person, we will end up creating 17.7 million more jobs. The unemployment
rate in Nigeria is about 23%, which amounts to about 16 million jobless youths.
With this development, we will eradicate unemployment and have more jobs to
spare” he added.
The advent of CWG 2.0 has positioned us
to be next Google or Facebook and make significant global impact. And this
vision is attainable because our solutions are not only profitable but they are
repeatable, scalable and sustainable. He concluded.
The event also witnessed the election of
Mr. Emmanuel Ijewere to the board of directors as a Non-Executive Director. Mr.
Ijewere is an astute accountant, who had served as president to various notable
organizations, such as the institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
(ICAN), Red Cross Society, Institute of Directors and others. In the same vein,
three other shareholders were also elected as members of the audit committee,
while Ernst and Young was appointed as the company’s auditor for another year.

'Obanikoro, PDP aiding Boko Haram' - Bola Tinubu fires back
12:52:00 pm
No comments

In a statement released last night through his media aide, Tinubu refuted the allegations, saying it is the PDP and
Obanikoro that are aiding Boko Haram. Find
his statement after the cut...
"The defence budget to fight Boko Haram and terrorism has become a conduit pipe for the ruling party PDP just as the likes of Obanikoro continue to use Boko Haram as a tool of blackmail against the opposition. This time , just like it failed in the past, it will not stick. It will not stand. It is the PDP-led government in which Obanikoro is an active and pliable agent that is perpetrating the insurgency for pecuniary benefits. This government has no shame. It lacks the moral authority to point fingers at individuals or the opposition. The country is literally on tenterhooks and all the PDP can do is lie to Nigerians in order to cover up its failures.
“Obanikoro’s allegation that Tinubu and his friends in the opposition created Boko Haram is both fallacious and untenable. It is the kind of fable that can only come out of the mouth of someone who is delusional. One whose intoxication with power is not in doubt. This allegation is both unreasonable and unsustainable, but not surprising coming from the person it came from. Bola Tinubu and the APC have been on record repeatedly condemning killings and bombings by Boko Haram and proffering solutions to the menace.
“The PDP is preparing the grounds for its next round of hounding opposition leaders, militarising our cities and violating the democratic rights of Nigerians to move freely. This is political Boko Haram of which the PDP is the Chief Architect.
“In Ekiti, we saw a dress rehearsal of the impunity and near brigandage of this government and its agents. Nigerians are urged to be vigilant before a few desperate persons steal our voices, our rights, our liberties and freedoms.”

30 year old Jeremy Meeks, the gorgeous felon who became an internet
sensation after his mug-shot was posted on the Stockton police Facebook
page, has secured an gent who is negotiating
modeling contracts for him even though he is still in jail in California
facing a felony weapons charge.
Popular Hollywood agent, Gina Rodriguez, has signed Jeremy as a client
and he joins her other notorious celeb clients including Teen Mom star
Farrah Abraham,
Donald Sterling's former mistress V. Stiviano and 'Octomom'
Nadya Suleman.
"Jeremy has an amazing look and has received international attention which I feel can only help him flourish in the entertainment industry. He could make somewhere between $3,000 to $100,000 per month through endorsements and modeling. We're also speaking with several production companies about following Jeremy's foray into the entertainment industry. I believe this can be a positive change for Jeremy and his family" Rodriguez told ABC News.
Meeks, who is being held on 11 felony
counts that include street gang membership and possession of
firearms, remains behind bars on $1.1 million bail. I hope he gets a second chance.

A soccer referee remains in critical condition
after an upset soccer player punched him in the throat and under the
chin, knocking him out and causing a head injury during an adult-league
match in Detroit.
Baseel Abdul-Amir Saad
has arrested and charged with felony assault with the intent to do
great bodily harm in the Livonia District Court on Monday. A hearing has
been set for July 10.
Saad's lawyer, Brian Berry, said his client is cooperating with police after surrendering himself on Monday and is not guilty of the charge.
According to the Livonia Police Lieutenant, Saad
punched the unnamed referee in the head after the referee indicated he
planned to eject the 36-year-old Dearborn resident from a game on Sunday
at Mies Park.
An opposing player, Joseph Cosenza told Fox 2 News that Saad had left the park by the time police arrived. "He
got away, took off with one of his buddies, jumped in their car. ... A
couple of our players were able to take pictures of the car and the
license plate after they took off. But unfortunately, the cops found the
car and the driver".
Violence is not uncommon in soccer and other sports, but do you thing this Saad guy will go free? Send us your thoughts below. I Use 11 Pack of Human Hair which cost N500k on my Hair...……Muma Gee

Don Jazzy Under Attack
1:16:00 pm

Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has been under fire recently when
speculations went viral that is ‘Dorobucci’ song has an occultic
inclination.
Although he came out to debunk such claims, tongues have not yet stopped waging, more so when he asked for entries for the creative designs of ‘Doro Mega Super Hero’ with a cash prize reward of $3000.
One of Nigeria’s creative directors, Tola Alabi, has described the competition as a publicity stunt, which he sees as unethical and exploitative.
According to Tola, Don Jazzy, instead of spending such money for the so-called competition, could have approached a creative agency or individual to do the job for him.
Here is what he wrote;
HERE WE GO AGAIN!
Another PR stunt getting off making thousands of artists and designers work without pay. I can imagine how many creatives would get on their macs and pcs to spend endless hours with the hopes of creating 'DORO MEGA SUPER HERO'(whatever that is). Not only is this unethical but very exploitative.
How do you pick the best out of over a thousand designs? As a matter of fact, how do you effectively pick the best out of over a thousand anything? If Don jazzy has $3000 to spend on developing this excuse of character, why doesn't he approach a creative agency or individual and work them.
Isn't that how he does his music videos? I wonder why he doesn't make that a competition as well? Simple because music video directors would not waste their time and resources, but unfortunately graphic designers would. Anyway, good luck to the person who 'wins'. For those who take part and have nothing to show but another heavy file to take up your RAM- I warned ya!

What’s the worst thing that could happen if you went totally broke
today? This is not a rhetorical question. Take a few seconds to answer
it before you read further.
What’s the very worst thing that could happen if you went dead broke today? Think about it for ten seconds.
For most people our age, the answer is something like: “A lot would happen, but it would not totally destroy me.” Why? Because when you’re in your early to mid-twenties, let’s face it— being broke happens, a lot.
And we survive it, because we are still young, with few responsibilities beyond ourselves. The most that would happen is that you move back in with your parents, spend a week thinking about your life, get over it and move on.

Keshi is the best indigenous coach Nigeria has ever had" - Okocha

Jay Jay Okocha, who was one of Super Sport's analyst on the Nigeria vs
France match this evening said the current Super Eagles coach, Stephen
Keshi, is the best indigenous coach Nigeria has ever had, saying we need
continuity and that Keshi should under no circumstances be removed as
coach of the Eagles because we didn't qualify to the quarter-final round
of the World Cup.
Who agrees with Okocha? Is Keshi the best indigenous coach we've ever had?
