Akpabio Returns Home After EFCC Invitation

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has returned to his Abuja residence after his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, affirming that he has nothing to hide about his term in office as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.


Akpabio, who was governor of the state between 2007 and 2015, was yesterday invited at about 5. 20pm to the Abuja Headquarters of the EFCC, over a petition dated June 22, 2015 and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the EFCC.

Police Kill Suspected Kidnapper, Rescue 2 Kids

The Police Command in Katsina State says it has killed one suspected kidnapper and rescued two children in the Dandume Local Government Area of the state.


The Commissioner of Police in the state, Usman Abdullahi, made the announcement on Friday while briefing journalists on the incident. He said that kidnappers had invaded Mahuta Village in the Local Government Area on four motorcycles.

An 18-year-old girl was ambushed and gang-raped by six gun-wielding men in the Somolu area of Lagos State. PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, Blessing (not real name), was returning from a visit to an uncle’s house at about 8pm on Saturday when she was attacked by the hoodlums, suspected to be cultists, on Olaosebikan Street, Bajulaiye, in the Somolu area. Tthe teenager, who was with the suspected rapists for about four hours, was threatened with a gun to “cooperate” with her assailants. It was learnt that Blessing was taken for medical treatment at the Mirabel Centre, Ikeja, after which the matter was reported at the Alade Police Division. It was, however, gathered that the suspected rapists fled the area before the police could arrest them.

Burkina Faso coup leader faces crimes against humanity

26-year-old Zimbabawean woman, Nomatter Gava-Hudson stabbed her son three times in the abdomen in Mississippi on Monday, October 5, during an argument with her husband who screamed for help and got one from a passer-by who called 911.

According to Police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel, investigators learned that an argument took place between Gava-Hudson and her husband, the child’s father, during which Gava-Hudson became “belligerent,” brandished a knife and intentionally stabbed the child.
