The U.S Secret Service Can No Longer Afford the Trump Large Family Lifestyle...See Details of New Budget

The Trumps

President Donald Trump’s frequent travel, large family and unusual living situation are apparently weighing heavily on the Secret Service’s budget. The agency recently requested an additional $60 million in spending for fiscal year 2018, according to a Washington Post report on Tuesday.

Nearly $27 million of that was to be earmarked for security at the president’s private residence at Trump Tower in New York, where first lady Melania Trump lives with their 11-year-old son.

The Secret Service also said it needed another $33 million to cover travel costs incurred by “the president, vice president and other visiting heads of state.”

The Office of Management and Budget rejected the request, a source told the Post, which could potentially force the Secret Service to scale back on other operations, like investigations into cyber hacking, counterfeit currency, financial crimes or missing and exploited minors.

The Post report comes amid questions about the president’s regular weekend jaunts to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Trump has made at least five trips to the “Southern White House” since his inauguration, each time costing taxpayers an estimated $3 million or more.

Providing Secret Service details for the first lady and the rest of Trump’s family, including his four adult sons and daughters, has also led to mounting costs.

Although this level of protection is standard for the first family, the specific needs of Trump’s older children have attracted scrutiny. In February, for example, Eric Trump flew to Uruguay to promote the Trump Organization. The trip ended up costing taxpayers nearly $90,000 in hotel bills for the Secret Service agents who accompanied him, leading to renewed criticism of how the president’s business interests intertwine with government functions.

The idea of taxpayers footing higher bills to protect the wealthy Trumps may not sit well with critics of the harsh federal budget the president released last week.

Trump’s plan proposes eliminating a number of antipoverty programs. At a press conference this week, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said there was no hypocrisy here.

“Presidents always travel,” said Spicer. “The president, wherever he goes, he carries the apparatus of the White House with us. That is just something that happens.”

Nigeria vs. Burkina Faso Friendly Match 'Cancelled' - NFF Announces

Super Eagles (Photo: Getty images)

The Super Eagles’ second international friendly against Burkina Faso in London on Monday, has been called off after seven players in the Burkinabe contingent failed to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom, Premium Times reports.

The chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Chris Green, told thenff.com in London: “We regret to announce that the second friendly match we had scheduled for the Super Eagles as part of preparations for the remaining matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series and the beginning of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification race would no longer take place on Monday, 27th March 2017.

“The match in question is called off due to no fault of either the organizers or the Nigeria Football Federation. We will announce further plans for the Super Eagles’ preparation for these two important qualifying campaigns in due course.” There is no British Embassy in Ouagadougou, and officials of the Federation Burkinabe de Football had been shuttling between Accra and Ouagadougou for visa processing.

FBF sources said the Embassy in Accra told them last week to proceed to Morocco (where the Etalons played the Atlas Lions on Friday) and that the visas would be issued there. However, the applications were still pending at the British Embassy in Morocco as at close of work on Friday, the last working day before match day in London.

The Burkinabe Football Federation on Friday, by 7pm UK time, telephoned the match organisers to say some of their players and officials were unable to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom and therefore would not be able to honour the match.

NFF president and CAF Executive Committee member, Amaju Pinnick, who expressed disappointment with the cancellation, however said the objectives of satisfying the technical team’s desire of squaring up against tough, physical African opposition and fostering team bonding and organization were achieved.

“The Technical Adviser (Gernot Rohr) wanted to play very physical African teams, as part of the preparations for the World Cup qualifying matches against Cameroon, and we duly fulfilled that with the arrangements we made for Senegal and Burkina Faso. “Unfortunately, some of the Burkinabe players could not secure entry visas into the UK. It is nobody’s fault.

Our joy is that we were able to play Senegal and got a fair result with a depleted squad, and also the objectives of team bonding, team building, team discipline and further imparting the Technical Adviser’s philosophy to the group have been well served.

“The Technical Adviser has also been able to look at a few more options, and our strength-in-depth is looking very good.”

Apostle Suleman Backs His Wife in New Romantic Photos Amid S*x Scandal

Apostle Johnson Suleman and wife in romantic play

It seems like Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries is not bothered about the s*x scandal trailing him following reports that apart from Stephanie Otobo, many other women have reportedly come out to say they engaged in s*x with the man of God.

Suleman has been spotted enjoying a romantic moment with his wife as he backs her lovingly while smiling to the camera.

The man of God has consistently denied all the accusations leveled against him.

Stephanie Otobo had claimed she was in a s*xual relationship with the overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide. She further claimed that the man of God paid her huge sums for threesome s*x.

Just barely a week after that, another lady identified as Queen Esther, said she also had a s*xual relationship with Mr. Suleman (popularly known as Apostle Suleman) in 2013 before a “catastrophic break-up” a year later.

“I was an usher in his branch church, but I had a sexual relationship with him as he lured me into it in order to solve my spiritual problem and limitations to success in career and marriage, but after the s*x he didn’t solve the problems for me, instead he started making proposal for us to marry,” Ms. Esther told PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday.

“I dated Apostle Suleman while I was a member in his church, he was my pastor, spiritual director and mentor aside being a boyfriend, from August 2013 to 2014 April.”

Mr. Suleman denies all the allegations.

Senator Dino Melaye's Certificates Scandal Deepens as ABU Releases Statement of Results (Photo)

Dino Melaye

The qualification scandal that has enveloped the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has deepened.

Documents obtained exclusively by Saturday Punch through painstaking and thorough investigations showed that the embattled senator has a Bachelor of Arts certificate in Geography from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The senator, apart from bagging a third class, also possesses a diploma certificate from the University of Jos. However, the senator only has a statement of results from ABU. And not only that, checks at the university revealed that it only offers B.Sc. Geography and not B.A. Geography as reflected on Melaye’s statement of results.

Melaye’s trouble began on Monday, March 20, 2017 when an online news medium, Sahara Reporters, in a tweet alleged that the senator did not graduate from ABU for his first degree, against his claim that he studied Geography in the prestigious institution.

The news medium also alleged that Melaye, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, bribed his Head of Department, who assisted him to forge his transcript.

In a series of tweets via its Twitter handle, @SaharaReporters, the online news medium said some lecturers in the Geography Department insisted that Melaye did not graduate from the department and that his name was not on the graduation list because he failed five compulsory courses.

Following the report, which gained traction speedily, Melaye dismissed the allegations, daring the news medium to sue him if it had authentic evidence to back its claims.

He took to his twitter handle and wrote, “Sahara Reporters, please sue me and ABU if it is true that I did not graduate from Zaria. Tell Magu (EFCC Chairman) to arrest and prosecute me.”

Melaye also boasted that he was currently a student in ABU pursuing his seventh degree, adding, “Go round all the UNIS (universities) I attended in digging more.”

A day after the news broke, Melaye, while speaking on the floor of the Senate, also addressed himself as an “authentic graduate” of ABU.

Meanwhile, when ABU was contacted to verify the conflicting information, the institution’s Information Officer, Adamu Mohammed, promised that the institution would come out with its position on Wednesday, which it failed to do as of the time of filing this report.

Amid the controversy, documents revealed that the senator had a statement of results with the logo of ABU. The statement of results read, “This is to certify that Daniel Jonah Melaye having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations as, under the authority of the Senate been awarded the Bachelor of Arts (Geography) with Third Class honours.”

The statement, issued by the Office of the Registrar, Academic Office and dated February 3, 2000, was signed by B.B. Mshelthlila. There are, however, certain discrepancies that beg for more clarifications. For instance, in the statement of results, his name was given as “Daniel Jonah MELAYE.”

However, checks by one of our correspondents on https://abu.edu.ng/ revealed that Geography is in the Faculty of Science and not the Faculty of Arts as reflected in the statement of results.

Also, in the senator’s NYSC discharge certificate, which was issued on July 8, 2001, his name read “Melaye Daniel” and not Daniel Jonah as shown in the statement of results. Also, in the diploma certificate issued to him by the University of Jos on August 3, 2006, his name read “Daniel Dino Melaye.”

He was issued an Advanced Diploma certificate in Law, Security and Conflict Resolution. He finished with ‘Lower Credit’ on August 3, 2006. However, in his Senior School Certificate in 1992, his name read ‘Melaiye Daniel Jonah O.’ with Melaye being wrongly spelt.

In the result, he had P8 in English Language, P8 in Mathematics, P8 in Geography, P8 in Chemistry, C5 in Christian Religious Knowledge, P7 in Economics, C6 in Biology and B3 in Agric Science.

When contacted again by a correspondents on his mobile telephone on Friday evening, the Information Officer, ABU, Mr. Adamu Mohammed, sounded hostile.

“Please, this is not official time; call me tomorrow, thank you, goodnight,” he said and hung up.

It will be recalled that in furtherance to his defence, Melaye had reportedly claimed that he obtained degrees from the prestigious Harvard University, London School of Economics and Political Science and a post-graduate degree from the University of Jos.

But in a swift response to an enquiry, Harvard University, in a statement from the Registrar’s office, on Thursday noted that Melaye was not a graduate of the institution as he only completed a week-long leadership seminar in November 2016.

The London School of Economics equally responded on Thursday, saying there was no proof on the institution’s database that Melaye obtained any degree from the school.

But on Thursday, he filed a N5bn libel suit against Sahara Reporters at a FCT High Court. Meanwhile, given the Senate’s decision to investigate the allegation and the uproar the report had generated, Melaye had since taken to the social media to exonerate himself of all the allegations.

Moments after he filed the suit, he took to the social media to post pictures of the cover and certification pages of his Master’s project, and a group picture of his days as a corps member, even though he was the only one not in uniform. He wore a white T-shirt and blue shorts, adding that he served in Kaduna State in 1999. The caption on the picture read, “ABU 99 set at NYSC camp in KD. Me in blue shorts.”

Also, on Friday, Wikipedia, had edited Melaye’s profile to include ‘Certificate Scandal’, which briefly chronicled the issues surrounding the ongoing certificate brouhaha..

Bureau De Change Operators Lose More Money as Naira Gains Significantly Against the Dollar

The Nigerian naira has continued its resurgence against the dollar as it exchanged N378/$ Friday evening. This is coming barely one month after the currency hit a record low of N520/$.

According to Guardian, there is a renewed optimism that the desire of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to achieve rates convergence between the Interbank and the Bureau De Change markets appears to be in the horizon.

With yesterday’s record, the local unit gained about one per cent over Thursday’s transaction at N380/$ in a move that has seen the currency rebound gradually and steadily in the last three weeks.

At the current rate, the spread between parallel and the new official (retail) segment of the market, where intervention is done at N375/$, stands at N3.

The CBN had last month unveiled a new policy that deregulated the retail segment of the forex market, which allowed access to travel allowances, school fees and medical tourism. Besides, it has intervened persistently in both the interbank and forwards contract market with over $1.5 billion since the new policy, which now crashed the parallel market rate.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, on Tuesday warned speculators that the bank had perfected plans to ensure that exchange rates fall beyond their expectations.

This week, the bank intervened with $180million on Monday, $500million on Tuesday and $100million on Thursday, in both 60-day forward market and interbank. But yesterday, it ended the weekly transactions with $100million offer at the interbank market to meet customers’ demands, out of which authorised dealers were only able to pick $81.347million after an initial bid for $91million.

At the interbank market, usually called the official market, the Naira exchanged for N307/$.Acting Director of Corporate Communications at the CBN, Isaac Okorafor, attributed the inability of authorised dealers to pick up the entire CBN offer to increasing dollar supply and sense of apprehension among dealers, who anticipate a further crash in the rate of the dollar.

He reiterated the determination of the apex bank to sustain its current interventions in the market, adding: “Those who doubt the capacity of the bank to sustain the intervention in the market are beginning to have a change of mind.”

Ab was rushed to Mercy Clinic Abak, at Mercy Clinic we saw the highest level of man's inhumanity to man.

When Corp Members arrived luckily we met a doctor he instructed that we first get the card while others went to get the card we pleaded with the doctor to run some test the doctor refused before we will say Jack the doctor have disappeared into thin air.

"An elderly woman who was a nurse tried her bit, few minutes later a Reverend Father came prayed for the boy and personally begged the doctor for more than 40minutes before the doctor came to see what was going on, he injected Ab only God know what he injected Ab with and instructed that he be transferred to Teaching Hospital Uyo. Ab had giving up the ghost before he arrived Teaching Hospital Uyo.

The question is, if the doctor had attended to our brother, would what is happening to us now happened? I think the answer is a NO! Yesterday we met a medical practitioner who has no human sympathy in his world.

We live in a country that has no medical security for her citizens what a shame. There are so many questions but we leave it to God.

"May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss. May the Soul of the departed rest in peace, Amen."
