Serious Commotion as 100 People Protesting Against President Trump Are Arrested in US (Photos)

The anti-trump protesters were arrested yesterday

Ninety-five people were arrested as protesters clashed with riot police in Washington D.C after Donald Trump was sworn in as the new U.S. President Friday.

Xinhua quoted Washington D.C. police saying that 95 people were arrested as of 2 p.m. local time after they smashed windows, damaged cars and threw rocks at police in a new wave of violence that erupted near the White House, right after end of the swearing-in ceremony held at the Capitol Hill.

Police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the protesters who hurled objects, including bottles and rocks, at them near the 12th and K streets, only blocks away from the White House.

The police said in a statement that some protesters acted in a concerted effort engaged in acts of vandalism and several instances of destruction of property. Two police officers were sent to hospital after they were injured during the clash. But their injuries were not life-threatening.

Earlier, protesters smashed windows of stores and cars in Washington on Friday just before Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th U.S. President. One hour ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, about 500 anti-Trump protesters, many of whom were black-clad, marched through streets near the White House in downtown Washington, holding banners such as “No Hate, No Place” and “Make Racists Afraid Again.”

Police in riot gear used stun grenades and pepper spray to disperse the protesters after they smashed windows of a local Bank of America branch, a Starbucks store, a McDonald restaurant and some cars by throwing stones, media reports said.

Earlier in the morning, many protesters tried to block several entrances into the Inaugural Parade route on the Pennsylvania Avenue, as many Trump supporters waited for checking in.

But most of the protests across the capital city, organized by anti-Trump groups including the Disrupt J20, the ANSWER Coalition and Black Lives Matter, were peaceful amid heavy security.

Massive security was imposed in downtown Washington Friday as many streets around the White House and Capitol Hill were blocked, creating a heavily fortified security zone. As many as 28,000 security officials, including some 7,800 National Guard troops, were deployed to guard the checkpoints and the Parade Route.

Trump’s swearing-in ceremony was attended by about 900,000 people, a much smaller crowd than expected. Trump, an outspoken New York billionaire and former TV entertainment celebrity, stunned the world by winning the presidential election in November, defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Trump, an outsider that has no political experience, won strong support from many white working-class voters, by vowing to shake up a political system that many Americans blame for failing them. But the brash billionaire has widely been criticized for making divisive and controversial remarks during his campaign.

Trump is the least popular U.S. President-elect in modern history, with only 40 percent favourable ratings among Americans, according to a recent ABC/The Washington Post poll.

Gambia's New President, Adama Barrow Finally Going Home as Jammeh Agrees to Step Down

President Adama Barrow of Gambia

There are strong indications that newly sworn in President of Gambia Adama Barrow is about going home to lead his people after he tweeted: "Thank you once again President @Macky_Sall for hosting me and my family."

BBC reported that the "latest tweet from internationally recognised president of the Gambia Adama Barrow hints that he may be leaving Senegal."

It was early reported that Gambian leader, Yahya Jammeh had signed an agreement to leave making it possible for Barrow to return. Gambia’s army chief General Ousman Badjie said he recognized new President Adama Barrow as the new commander-and-chief, and would not fight a regional force poised to depose Yahya Jammeh, who has refused to step down.

“We are going to welcome them with flowers and make them a cup of tea,” Badjie told Reuters in an interview today. “This is a political problem. It’s a misunderstanding. We are not going to fight Nigerian, Togolese or any military that comes.”

Badjie had initially pledged loyalty to Barrow after the stunning announcement of his victory in the 1 December election. He made a volte face again after Jammeh challenged Barrow’s election.

The army chief was seen yesterday in the streets of Banjul jubilating with the people after the swearing-in of Barrow in Dakar Senegal.

His pledge of loyalty to Barrow came as Jammeh prepares to leave the country, although he missed the 4pm deadline given by ECOWAS.

Omg! See Graphic Photos of IPOB Members Allegedly Killed While Staging Rally for Donald Trump in Port Harcourt

“They have attacked our people; 11 have been confirmed dead, many others have bullet wounds”, he claimed in the statement. He alleged that the attack was carried out by the police, the army and the Department of State Services. A Twitter user, Anioke Collins, said Biafrians were shot by police officers at Igwuocha area of the state. Omg! Man with a Massive 18.9 Inch P*nis Refuses to Have It Reduced (Photos)

Roberto Esquival Cabrera

The man with the world’s largest p*nis has rejected the possibility of having a reduction – even if it means he can’t have s*x, Sun UK reports.

The report revealed that Roberto Esquivel Cabrera, 54, from Saltillo, Mexico, has a p*nis measuring a colossal 18.9 inches.

His half-metre p*nis smashed the record previously believed to have belonged to American actor Jonah Falcon, whose p*nis was 9.5 inches flaccid, and 13.5 inches when erect. “I am famous because I have the biggest penis in the world,” he told Barcroft TV.

“I am“I would like to be in the Guinness Book of Records but they don’t recognise this record.” However, he has rebuffed suggestions by members of the medical community urging him to consider a penile reduction.

Doctor Jesus David Salazar Gonzalez said: “We have advised him, ‘Mr Roberto, the best thing for you is that the doctors give a normal shape to your penis so that it doesn’t hurt you, in order to have sexual relationships, in order to have children.’

“But he doesn’t accept it, he’d rather have a penis bigger than the rest of the people.” happy with my penis, I know nobody has the size I have. He continued: “In Latin culture whoever has the bigger penis is more macho.

“It’s something that makes him different to the rest of the people and makes him feels special.” Doctors recently did a thorough examination of Cabrera’s penis, confirming suspicions that the bulk of his nearly 20 inch manhood is foreskin.

Radiologist Jesus Pablo Gilmore said: “Our findings on the CT scan were that he has very large foreskin, it goes almost to the knee. “The glands themselves are only six to seven inches from the pubice. It doesn’t go all the way through the foreskin.

“The rest of the tissue found there is foreskin and blood vessels and some inflammation of the skin that he has made through the years.” Doctors have also been able to offer some insight in just how Roberto’s penis became quite so large – they say he has been stretching his penis with weights since his teens. “He was obsessed with the penis length,” Dr Gonzalez said.

“He began with this enlargement since he was a teenager, wrapping some bands around his penis with some weights and trying to stretch it."

The sheer size of Roberto’s penis causes him a number of health problems, including frequent urinary tract infections because not all his urine escapes his lengthy foreskin, and he keeps his colossal member wrapped in bandages to escape chaffing.

He is also unable to sleep chest down and has to put his p*nis on its own pillow to escape discomfort during the night. An active s*x life is also off limits for Roberto as his p*nis has too much girth to have intercourse.

Nigerian Sport Legend and Frontline Tennis Promoter, Chris Enahoro Dies

Chris Enahoro

80-year-old Nigerian sports legend and front-line tennis promoter, Chris Enahoro, has passed away on Thursday morning in his Lagos home. The veteran sports administrator who reputed to be the production line of today’s top tennis players, was the coordinator of the Chevron Tennis Masters.

When correspondents visited his Ajao Street residence, on Thursday, stream of visitors were seen paying their condolences to the former Nigerian cricket star, who went on to become the Chairman of the Nigeria Cricket Association.

Amidst weeping and sobbing, the awe-stricken sympathisers watched as Enahoro’s lifeless body was wheeled off by undertakers to an undisclosed location.

As news of his demise started filtering out, an eerie feeling enveloped the Nigerian tennis community, reeling from the shock and vacuum that his death has created.

Recounting the last moment of the deceased, his Personal Assistant, Razak Adedigba, said Enahoro was last attended to by his doctor on Wednesday.

“When the doctor came on Wednesday, he attended to him and told him to rest. He later woke up in the evening to have his dinner and told me he was getting better. “Early today, (yesterday), he woke up at 5.00 a.m. to visit the toilet on his own, after which he told me to help him to lie down on the floor. I switched on the fan for him, but he died around 6:30 a.m.”

In his tribute, President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Sani Ndanusa, said Enahoro represented the soul of Nigerian tennis.

“For us, he was more like the soul of Nigerian tennis because of his concentration on junior tennis development, which is the foundation of the game. “We have lost a very important person. It has shaken the tennis family to its foundation. We are shocked to the marrow. He was a genuine tennis developer, who had an open heart and open hand. He would be missed,” added Ndanusa.

He’s survived by two children, a man and a lady, who live in London, as well as his younger brother, Greg Enahoro.

Jammeh Cannot be Allowed to Stay in the Country - Gambia's New President, Barrow Talks Tough in First Interview

Adama Barrow being sworn-in on Thursday in Senegal

In his first media interview with Al Jazeera, new Gambian President, Adama Barrow who was sworn-in on Thursday in his country's embassy in Dakar, Senegal, has urged his predecessor, Yahya Jammeh to leave the country and hopes that ECOWAS countries can find him a safe haven.

"We cannot allow Yahya Jammeh to remain in the Gambia, it will make our job difficult. That's why all our negotiations is he leave Gambia, he can later come back. But as of now the political climate doesn't allow that. I advise him in good faith to give peace a chance. It is about democracy."

It was gathered that Jammeh started negotiations with ECOWAS on Thursday and agreed to step down but demanded an amnesty for any crimes that he may have committed during his 22 years in power and that he be permitted to stay in The Gambia, at his home village of Kanilai.

Those demands are not acceptable to ECOWAS, Marcel Alain de Souza, head of the 15-nation Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), said; "If, at 12 o'clock, he does not make up his mind, we will bring him by force or by will. Our troops will advance on Banjul.

Until the last minute, we still think there is a solution resulting from a dialogue," "Diplomacy is a long road, it always has been and always will be, so every opportunity to find a resolution is the best means possible for the region. The last thing that West Africa needs is another conflict," Robin Sanders, a former US ambassador to ECOWAS, told Al Jazeera.

While there has been talk that a deal may include an amnesty for Jammeh, whose regime has been accused of various human rights abuses, Sanders said that this would set a bad precedent.

"Also in this case, I am not in the camp of complete amnesty because what you do is signal additional impunity going forward with other leaders, not only just in the continent but across the world," she said.

Gambia: Yahya Jammeh Begs ECOWAS to Give Him Little Time to Step Down Today

Gambian ruler, Yahya Jammeh

The embattled ruler of The Gambia, Yahya Jammeh has begged ECOWAS and other countries ready to invade the country to give till 4 p.m, today to step down, reports BBC.

"The Gambia's long-time ruler Yahya Jammeh, who lost elections in December, has asked for an extension of the deadline to stand down to be extended to 16:00 (4PM) local time" Thomas Fessy of the BBC is quoted as reporting.

It is believed the presidents of Liberia, Guinea and Mauritania are in Banjul to convince him to relinquish power in a final bid to see that the incident does not escalate resulting in bloodshed. African troops comprising of different countries are stationed in Gambia to take Jammeh out by force if peaceful talks fail.

The President of Gambia, Adama Barrow was successfully sworn-in yesterday and has been in Senegal since. Political crisis erupted in the country after Barrow defeated Jammeh at the 2016 Presidential election.

He initially accepted the defeat befored he went back and said he will not accept the results.

ECOWAS, AU, UN and forces from African countries are on standy to remove Jammeh by force.

Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and Guinea’s President Alpha Conde told reporters hope remained for a political resolution to the country’s handover crisis as they left for Banjul from Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital. “We still have every chance for a peaceful solution,” Aziz said.

“We have every interest in achieving that, we have enough conflicts in Africa going on without adding another.” Conde said a political solution “must be found” before boarding their flight.

JUST IN: Thousands of Lagosians 'Trapped' in Total Traffic Lockdown on 3rd Mainland Bridge (Photos)

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) who continued the rehabilitation on the popular 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos, has not only created inconvenience, but left many commuters stranded.

It was gathered that some of the trucks belonging to the agency parked right in the middle of the road inward Lagos Island on Friday, forcing vehicles to share two of the five lanes.

As of 1:30pm, the traffic had extended beyond the Iyano-Oworo axis of the bridge to Seven Up towards the Old Toll Gate, Ojota, Anthony, and other parts of the city.

Speaking to a correspondent, a Lagos government official, who does want his identity disclosed, accused the officials handling the project of poor planning.

“Poor planning is responsible for this situation. At least the engineers should have factored in the fact that this is perhaps the busiest road in the state,” he said.

“Look at the manhour loss that this has caused the economic capital of the nation. So much about planning.”

Ibrahim Garba, who stays in Lekki and work in Ikeja, said he was not sure of returning home as a result of the situation. “I am contemplating paying my family members in Ogba an unplanned visit, and passing the night there. The traffic will subside, but then many people will suffer,” he told TheCable.

The Lagos State Emergency Response Unit (LRU) has deployed personnel to the area to assist in containing the situation

2019: Southern PDP Chieftains Float New Group

Tom Ikimi

Some politicians of southern extraction, under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, have formed a new group, “PDP Southern Leaders Consultative Forum’’ as a force ahead of the 2019 elections.

Already, members of the movement have started meetings to discuss critical issues affecting the party, and how the southern zone would position itself in terms of power sharing ahead of future elections.

A DailyTrust correspondent reports that party stalwarts from all the states in the South-West, South-East and South-South regions met in Abuja, Wednesday night, at the residence of Chief Tom Ikimi, where they deliberated on issues till the early hours of Thursday.

The venue of the meeting was where the merger of legacy parties took place. The parties later collapsed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) when Chief Ikimi was in the party. It is not yet clear if the movement will metamorphose into a different political party.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, yesterday, Chief Ikimi, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) said the forum had constituted a 7- man committee to be chaired by a former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, to propose its structure.

He, however, said the meeting was not to divide the party or to form a forum against the North. “A motion was moved for the formation of this forum and adopted,” he said.

He added that the PDP governors in the South would be fully engaged to ensure that the movement was sustained.

“I think it has reached a stage now where this party should be born again, where those of us who are from the South should see ourselves as one. “If we do not unite and work together, our ambitions will be an illusion,’’ Ikimi said.

Speaking during the opening session, Ikimi, said the PDP constitution recognised the North and South in order to establish equality, stability and fairness in power sharing, adding that the forum’s aim was to rebuild and re-launch the party.
