Arsenal Football Club React To Super Eagles Draw With Argentina At The World Cup

Premier League side, Arsenal, has reacted to the draw of Nigeria and Argentina in the same group; reminding the Albicelestes that they were beaten by the Super Eagles in an international friendly last month in Krasnodar, Southern Russia.

The Red Devils will not travel to the Emirate with Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini for the game and there is also doubt about Nemanja Matic who is not hundred percent fit game for the game.

Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has admitted Nigeria’s World Cup zone is ‘a tough group’ but feels that his side can qualify from Group D.

The Super Eagles have been drawn against debutants Iceland, Croatia and eternal rivals, Argentina for their sixth World Cup campaign since 1994.

“I won’t tell lie, it’s a tough group but I believe we can come out if we stick to our plans for what we have been doing throughout the qualifiers, we can qualify.

“Iceland are doing well right now and we saw what they were able to do against England at the Euro 2016 and how they qualified for the World Cup,” he continued.

“There is not going to be pushovers among these teams and if we have to beat all these teams, we have to be at our best.”

So Sad! Popular OAP Dies In Akwa Ibom (Pictured)

A popular radio On-Air-Personality (OAP) identified as Cleo Tao has died in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

She died on Friday at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, Uyo.

The sad news was confirmed by the CEO of Planet FM, Tony Afia on Friday evening on-air: “Cleo Tao just got sick last week and was taken to the emergency intensive care unit at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital. She died today,” he said.

It is suspected that Ms. Tao may have died of a respiratory ailment, owing to her Facebook post two days earlier.

“Sorry guys, I had a respiratory challenge, I’m responding to treatment. I’ll be out soon. Thanks for your kind prayers,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

People who were close to Ms. Tao said she was energetic, lively and very passionate about her job.

The deceased was the Head of Programmes at a private radio station, Planet 101.1FM.

So SAD! Bride Set To Wed Today Dies In A Fatal Accident With Her Mother (Photos)

It was a sad news to Wagoha’s family to hear the sudden death of their mother (Julie Adaeze Wagoha and her daughter (Elizabeth wagoha) who is set to knot the tie with her husband to be on the 9th December, 2017.

Elizabeth Wagoha schooled abroad where she studied medicine and surgery while her mother Julie Adaeze Was a staff in the Rivers State university formally known as Rivers state university of science and technology (RSUST) until her death.

According to reports, Elizabeth and her mother died on their way to the market to buy souvenirs and other goods for the weeding.

They board the Anambra state transport bus and were both seated in the front of the vehicle alongside the driver. On their way going, their vehicle hit a tanker packed by the roadside as the driver was trying to over take another bus.

It was gathered that the bus driver was the only person who survived the accident as all other passengers were confirmed dead.

Lagos Ready For Street Carnival, Olamide, Others To Perform

All is now set for the second edition of the Lagos Street Carnival scheduled to hold on Sunday 3rd December, 2017, along the entire stretch of the Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja from 12noon.

The 12 hours Carnival, consisting of Parade of Colours and Music is packaged by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with HEAT Entertainment outfit, as a private sector initiative is expected to set the tone for the Christmas and New Year Celebrations.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Fola Adeyemi in a statement said the 2017 Lagos Street Party, which has now been re-branded and transformed into Street Carnival, is a private sector initiative with the support of the Lagos State Government packaged to provide fun and Entertainment for the entire family as well as set the stage for the One Lagos Fiesta which is to come up in all the five divisions of the State at a later date in December.

He said the Carnival will witness a parade of colours by representatives of all the 57 Local Government Councils and Council Development Areas and Organized Private Sector participation from Lagos Island and other parts of the State.

The Carnival according to him, will provide fun and entertainment to the family, and would have Kiddies section with variety of over 18 games to take care of their needs, while the adult section will be thrilled with carnival procession and musical performance by “A” list Artistes like Olamide, Terry G, Saheed Osupa, Lil Kesh, 9ice, Humble smith, Salawa Abeni, MC Arole, Malaika, Olu Maintain, YCee, Reminisce, Big Shef, etc.

Revealed: 300,000 People Are Living With HIV/AIDS In Benue

Benue State, middlebelt area of Nigeria has a high population of people infected with HIV/AIDS, according to a recent statement.

The Acting Country Program Manager of AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), Dr. Greg Abiaziem, on Friday said that at least 300, 000 people are still living positively with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Benue State.

Dr. Abiaziem in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, said that the 15.4 percent prevalence rate of the scourge in the state was unacceptable and as such his organisation would put in its best intervention to stem the epidemic.

“In Benue state where we are working and with the current national survey carried out in 2014, ranked highest with 15.4 percent which is unacceptably high. That is why we are working hard as stakeholders to bring the figure down.

“We have over 300, 000 people living with HIV and AIDS. Out of this number, 140, 000 HIV patients are currently undergoing treatment in the state. Government must put more funds into HIV project to keep the service going to reduce prevalence. The adolescents girl are the most vulnerable and we need to reach out to them,” he said.

He further emphasised the need to urgently bridge the gap following the one million death recorded globally and two million new infection across the world in 2016 alone while 20 million persons are currently without treatment.

According to him, the status of people most vulnerable to the scourge had shifted to the adolescents with the key population being Men Sleeping with Men (MSM) as he noted that despite challenges ahead, the AHF in collaboration with the state’s agency on AIDS control has made huge success in the sector by reducing the size and impact of the epidemic in the state.

Abiaziem therefore pledge the resolve of the Foundation not to rest on its oars as more still needs to be done to expand coverage and access to HIV testing and treatment in the state, adding that this year’s World AIDS Day was meant to create awareness and launched fast track initiatives to undergo testing and counselling which is an avenue to reach out to the populace so that they can come out and know their status.

He added: “Statistically, we have not really done well in terms of testing and treatment services. So we are here to advocate for people to come out for testing to receive counselling and early treatment if need be.”

Also speaking in Makurdi to mark this year’s World AIDS Day with the theme; ‘Make it happen, a right to health, right to treatment,’ the AHF’s HIV Prevention Coordinator, Amina Iyaji, intimated that the organisation currently provides care and support for people in 10 local government areas of the state.
