2016 Budget To Go Into Full Operation – VP Osinbajo

The Federal Government has re-assured Nigerians that the 2016 budget is expected to go into full operations in the next few days, all things being equal.

This assurance was given by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who was a guest speaker at the 12th edition of ‘The Platform’, an annual national discourse put together by Covenant Christian Centre in Abuja.

“We expect that the budget will go into operation in the next few days. This year, isn’t it so interesting that we are all paying attention and we know what exactly is going on?” he asked.

Technology Innovation Hubs
Reeling out some of the government’s plans to 2016, Vice President further told the gathering that technology innovation hubs would be established across the country.

The target, according to him, is to have two Super Hubs – one in Lagos and the other in Abuja – and six Regional Technology Hubs in the six geo-political zones – South-east, South-south, South-west, North-west, North-central and North-east.

“In partnership with several major technology companies, the hubs will be fully resourced to the infrastructure and capacity building tools.

“Each hub will be designed to produce relevant innovative technology solutions to a wide range of business, commercial and government problems,” Professor Osinbajo stated.

He further stressed that the government of Buhari was completely and irrevocably committed to change, but warned that it may not be easy.

“Though the early signs may be confusing and sometimes discouraging, there has never been a better opportunity than now to turn the country in the direction of success.

“What we must do is not to blink. No shaking. Let us stay the course, keep our focus and see our country turn around,” the Vice President urged Nigerians

Diversifying The Economy
Professor Osinbajo also said that besides fighting corruption, the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would create jobs for the people by further diversifying the economy.

“We will deepen the diversification of the economy.

“The big areas of focus are agriculture, agro-allied value chains, solid minerals, petrochemicals, technology and entertainment.

“We need to be completely self-sufficient in production of rice, wheat, tomato and several of the products that drain our foreign exchange.

This country can feed itself, produce enough. All that we need to do is focus on those who are producing and remove the obstacles on the way of giving people who are producing money or resources that they need

Freeze Tells Tiwa, Your Interview About TeeBillz Could Make Him More Suicidal

Daddy Freeze for the second time has written another open letter, this time it is not to the Baloguns, neither is it to Nigerians to pray for the couple, but to Tiwa Savage, the lady in the middle of all this. Here’s what Freeze wrote to her;

Dear Tiwa,

I have nothing but love for you, but after I watched all 45 mins or so of your interview, I am a bit disappointed.

Tiwa, I know it hurts when a relationship breaks down, and those accusations T Billz made were extremely hurtful, nonetheless, I believe you could have employed caution when responding, since according to you, he was unstable and suicidal. In law, if for instance, you walk in on your man in bed with another woman and you shoot him on the spot, you could get a lighter sentence, if your legal counsel argues provocation. On the flip side, if you walk out of the scene to get a gun and then launch an attack, it's now considered premeditated. Continue...

The fact that you granted a 'pitch perfect' interview, with a flawless visual background and superb audio quality, in my opinion looks a bit premeditated.

If you had denied all his accusations and asked to swear on ayelala or amadioha or sango as against the lie detector test, since on no instance has a polygraph ever been used in Nigeria, and if afterwards you had requested for privacy, as you deal with such a sensitive issue, this matter would have been laid to rest. How are you going to tell Nigerians not to talk about issues you 'used your own hand' to make public? This could only serve to further delay your healing.

Even though my prayer is for your issues to be resolved and for joy to return to your home, the breakdown of a marriage is not the end of the world, I have been through it and my world did not end. However, do you realize that the interview you gave could lead to the end of TJ's world? Who is now going to hire, work with, or have any business dealings with an unstable, adulterous, fraudulent, cocaine sniffer who cannot manage money and has his priorities misplaced? Whether you like it or not, that is what the interview has delineated him to be. In furtherance to this, if he was suicidal before, this interview is only going to make him even more suicidal!

I know you both love Jamil so in all this drama, lets be very careful to shield him, as the Internet never forgets and his friends and classmates will always have his father's tweets along with your interview as points of reference.

OMG! Meet Women Who Breastfeed Deers Like Their Own Babies (Photos)

Nursing mothers in a remote region in Rajasthan, a state in northern India, have taken in orphaned and injured fawns for more than half a century - and couldn't imagine it being any other way. ‘These baby deers are my life and they’re like my own children,’ said Mangi Devi Bishnoi, 45, a housewife from one of the villages.‘I feed them milk and food and ensure they’re given proper care and attention in the house like all my family members. 'They are not orphans when they have us around, they have new mothers like me who offer them a mother’s feed for a healthy life.’

Roshini Bishnoi, 21, a student in one of the villages, told MailOnline: I have grown up with these little deers. They’re like my brother or sister. It is our responsibility to keep them healthy and help them grow. We play with them and we communicate with each other, they understand our language.’
Neighbour Ram Jeevan Bishnoi, 24, added: ‘We do not see them as just animals. They are very much like a family member. We take care of everything they may need to live a healthy life. We keep them protected in our house so that dangerous animals like wild dogs do not harm them. If they’re injured we keep them safe in our house and treat them like our children.

'My parents have never differentiated between a baby deer and me. We are one family and it is in our religion to protect them.’ The Bishnoi community, which comprises of around 2,000 homes, have followed the Hindu Guru Sri Jambeshwar Bhagwan since the 15th century and religiously obey 29 rules suggested by their Guru.

One is the protection and love of animals and nature. They take care of the flora, fauna and protect the animals from the summer heat or potential poachers.

However, the deer is believed to be a sacred animal of the community and is given special attention.

So Sad! Decomposing Bodies of Nigerian Soldiers in Boko Haram's Territory Uncovered!

Bodies of Nigerian soldiers killed on April 18 in a Boko Haram ambush in Gubio, Borno State, are yet to be retrieved, a soldier on the war frontline has told TheCable

The soldier said Gubio, a local government, is the “nemesis” of Nigerian troops as the insurgents are still fully in control, despite the successes recorded since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power. He said only 15 bodies of the slain soldiers were recovered, with the actual figures of the casualties yet to be made public.

But a spokesman for the army has described the soldier’s claims as “false”. The soldier said it was impossible for the Nigerian military to penetrate Gubio because of the insurgents’ “superior fire power”, although he said successes have been recorded in other local government areas of the state.

“In one battalion, out of 500 plus, they are no longer up to 150. Half of them did not come back alive. Boko Haram killed some but our soldiers also killed some insurgents. Of the 12 soldiers that recently returned from Guinea Bissau, 10 have died,” he said.

“Our men are in Gubio local government area, though the place we wanted to capture is Damasak, which has a boundary with Niger Republic. That (Gubio) is the only local government area under Boko Haram. They control the whole area.”

Reports had suggested that Nigerian soldiers suffered “heavy losses” in the ambush, but the army issued a statement later in the day saying the insurgents were eventually overpowered.

The soldier said: “Boko Haram is well-armed… all of them. Anti-aircraft gun is what they use to kill people. Their vehicles are the colour of the Nigerian army just as their uniforms. Boko Haram uses anti-aircraft guns, but we don’t have those. And they have more than 20 rocket-propelled grenades; we have only two.

“When we were trying to enter Gubio on Monday (April 18), they ambushed us. It is not clear to us how they got to know our mission. “On that day soldiers said that they did not want to go into that local government area because they did not have arms. But their bosses said that they must go there without being well-armed. Two battalions (113 and 158) of the fifth brigade went there.

“Uncountable soldiers lost their lives. The corpses are still there now. We only recovered 15 bodies, but many of the soldiers are in the bush dead, and their bodies are decomposing. And authorities are going to block their accounts if their bodies are not recovered. Their families will not be able to access their salaries or benefits. There must be a dead body before you can make claims.

“There is no reinforcement, and the commanders are asking the soldiers to go back there. Some soldiers have run away; there are less than 100 in a particular battalion now. The ammunition has been depleted, and no reinforcement. “The two battalions are scattered and there is no encouragement.”

However, the army has described the report as false. Speaking with a correspondent, Sani Usman, army spokesman, called for a “proper questioning” of soldiers who leak information to journalists. He explained that some of the soldiers who quickly run to give false information to the press were the ones running away from battle. Usman described them as “cowards”.

Why I Dropped My Degree to Become a Taxi Driver - Abuja-based Female Taxi Driver Reveals

Susan Asakpa

While some Nigerian women are today afraid of the car steering wheel, others have decided to earn a living in the male-dominated field of taxi drivers. One of such ladies is Delta State-born Susan Asakpa.

“I studied Accounting at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I worked in a hotel for about three years. There was nothing new anymore, no challenge and the salary was stagnant. Later on, my boss called me up and told me that he will be reducing my salary by N10,000. I was surprised.”

“Before then, I have been thinking about what business I can do. I had three business ideas (hair dressing, food and taxi business). I prayed about them after which I chose this one,” the young lady continued.

“I spoke with my dad who happens to be my closest confidant and he quickly got a loan from the bank and bought me this car. He has been so supportive, not a single word of discouragement,” she said.

Shocking! Wife Discovers that Her Husband Has Been Secretly Married to Another Woman for 13 Years

Wendy Lee and her husband, David Jones

David Jones, a bigamist was caught by his wife, Wendy Lee, when she hired a private eye to look into his past and found he was married to another woman 13 years ago.

According to Mirror Online, Wendy Lee tied the knot with David Jones on September 16 last year in a lavish ceremony in England surrounded by friends and family. However, the man's lies landed him with a four-month suspended sentence today after he admitted a charge of entering a form of marriage during the life of his wife at Southend Magistrates' Court, Essex.

Jones was found out after Wendy grew suspicious of his past and hired a detective to do some digging.

The Daily Telegraph reports that she called Essex Police over the revelation and the wine merchant was arrested, During an interview with police, Jones admitted that he should have divorced his first wife before getting married again.

He appeared before magistrates after the court issued a warrant for his arrest because he had failed to turn up at a previous hearing. Today, he was handed the four-month sentence, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work.

Jones was also told to pay an £80 victim surcharge and to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Jones married his first wife in 2002 and their relationship broke down. "In 2013, he began a relationship with another woman whom he married in September 2015 and this other woman believed he was divorced.

"This new wife became suspicious and found out that he was still married after she hired someone to make enquiries. "We know that the relationship with the first wife deteriorated but it's not clear if he was carrying out a relationship with both women at the same time.

"He has accepted that he just didn't go through the correct process and that he was going to marry the new wife without divorcing the old one."

Obsession: Man on the Run After Stabbing to Death Woman Who Refused His Love Advances (Photo)

Oluwatosin Ashunwo (L) stabbed to death by David Ogundele (R)

In a story that could be likened to a movie, a man has stabbed to death his crush while also severely injuring her mother.

According to Punch reports, 45-year-old David Ogundele, an engineer, who was deeply obsessed with 30-year-old Oluwatosin Ashinwo, stabbed her multiple times along with her mother, who was trying to ward off an attack on her daughter in a flat she rented at Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to the story, Oluwatosin, who was a customer care executive with telecommunication company, MTN, had just been transferred from Kano to Kwara State when she met Ogundele. While Ogundele had a massive crush on the young woman, she had other things on her mind.

Ogundele is said to have tried to reached out to the young woman’s siblings with the hope of winning their approval and convincing their sister.

“My sister did not love him back and she did not hide it. He did everything to win her love but she just did not like him back,” one of Oluwatosin’s brothers narrated.

“At a time when I was in Ilorin at the end of last year, I visited my sister one evening when the man came around. I saw him a second time, two weeks after that in December. I did not ask my sister about him because I knew she was old enough to handle her affairs. But it was clear my sister did not like him.

“My sister used to tell me that he works at Omu Aran. She said the man would always pester her that he wanted to marry her. “There had been pressure from my mother and other family members for her to get married but she always liked to handle her issues herself.

She was the one who sponsored my university education. She was very hardworking. Even apart from her MTN work, she was still selling shoes and bags on the side. Soon, Ogundele started to send messages to Oluwatosin’s brothers.

The screen capture of one of such messages shown our correspondent, reads, “Your sister is giving me a serious headache. I don’t know what to do. I love her so much but…Join me in prayers that God should soften her heart.”

In another text message he sent to one of the brothers, Ogundele wrote, “I am at the health centre now. It is your sister’s behaviour that landed me there o. Always thinking (sic) I covet your prayers for survival. If I die, I die for love. You can’t understand.”

At this point, the brothers reached the conclusion that the man was terribly obsessed with their sister, who insisted that she was never going to get into a relationship with or marry him.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that it became clear that Oluwatosin’s mind was made up when Ogundele undertook the most unexpected and shocking step of organising a big birthday party for the young woman when she clocked 30 in February.

Apart from organising the birthday, he bought a Toyota Matrix as a birthday gift. As the birthday ceremony started, Ogundele reportedly put a call across to Oluwatosin to come. She never showed up.

“If my sister had accepted the gift, it would have been the same as accepting his proposal. He felt so bad about it,” the deceased’s brother said. This was said to have infuriated Ogundele, whom they said felt ashamed in the eyes of the guests he had invited to the party.

Oluwatosin’s brothers said her resolve was more affirmed because she had learnt that Ogundele was married already.

Ogundele showed up and an argument ensued, during which Oluwatosin insisted the man must leave her house. But rather than leave, in anger, he ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. By the time, he was done, the two women, Oluwatosin, and her mother, who tried to stop the fight, had both been stabbed multiple times.

It was learnt that Ogundele locked his victims in the room, thinking that they were both dead.

In a shocking conversation Punch correspondent struck with the alleged killer (Ogundele) on WhatsApp, he simply rationalised his act by saying “I was bewitched.”

Asked if Oluwatosin provoked him, he said, “It is well. What can I do now? I was bewitched. How would I attack a lady I claim to love?”

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed that the police are on the trail of the suspect.

Investigators have visited a private university where Ogundele is said to work, but his colleagues said they had not seen nor heard from him since the day before the incident. The police have called for any information that may help to track down the suspect as he continues to stay in hiding.

Most Wanted Ex-Niger-Delta Militant, Tompolo Speaks From Hiding...See What He Said

Tompolo

Wanted billionaire and Niger Delta ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has disassociated himself from the new militia group in the region known as the Niger Delta Avengers, who claimed responsibility for the damaged Forcados 48-inch export pipeline.

In a statement issued and signed by his media adviser and consultant, Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo declared that he is not part of the group.

The fugitive Tompolo said that while it is unfortunate that he is still being associated with pipeline vandalism after a series of media reports debunked his alleged involvement in renewed hostilities in the region, ‎it is imperative to state unequivocally that he does not have ties with the Niger Delta Avengers.

According to his statement, “It is very unfortunate that Tompolo is still being accused of pipeline vandalism despite several press releases he has made denying his involvement in the renewed hostility in the Niger Delta region.

Since the declaration of the presidential amnesty program by the late President Yar’Adua in 2009, which he wholeheartedly embraced and accepted, he has sworn not to be part of arm struggles either overtly or covertly.

"Most Nigerians, if not all, are aware of the role Tompolo played in safeguarding crude oil and gas facilities during the last administration, and he is still doing that for the love of country, humanity and out of patriotism.

Tompolo is very happy with his achievements through non-violence advocacy since the enthronement of the 2009 presidential amnesty program for the Niger Delta region, particularly in the coastal areas.

“For instance, the establishment of the first maritime university and a dock and ship building yard and other good things which space and time will not permit us to mention. Therefore it is unreasonable and unimaginable to associate Tompolo with any person(s) or group involved in pipeline vandalism.

"It is very important to inform Mr. President and the security agencies in the country that some members of the ruling All Progressive Congress, particularly from Bayelsa and Delta States, are not happy with him because they have not gotten anything from him after almost a year since he assumed office by way of appointments and contracts.

Therefore, some of them are involved in nefarious activities in the oil and gas sector so as to be engaged in pipeline surveillance.

"We are aware of how such persons are chasing the Minister of Petroleum for State, Ibe Kachukwu, around.

Tompolo has said on many occasions that he will not resort to violence because of his case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as his legal team is working towards the resolving the issue. It is his prayer to God Almighty to see him through in these trying times," the statement reads.

BUSTED! Jonathan’s Agents Offered Us N2b for 2015 Election

The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) – a coalition of over 400 civic organizations – has revealed that the agents of former President Goodluck Jonathan offered it a bribe of N2billion for the purpose of compromising the outcome of the 2015 elections.

The bribe came by way of what TMG chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Zikirullahi, branded a dubious proposal.
His words: "Specifically, some errand boys from the Presidency at the time came to us with a dubious proposal that 50,000 agents of the PDP be fielded as TMG observers.
“In financial terms, the errand boys expressed the Presidency’s readiness to fund the fraud with the sum of Two Billion Naira.”

This is coming on the heels of ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into how $115million (N23.299billion) was contributed by some oil barons and shared to some electoral officials to rig the elections in favour of ex-President Jonathan.

Fidelity Bank, which handled the disbursement of the funds, has already refunded the N49.7million profit it made from the deal while the EFCC is said to have recovered N408.7million from some of the beneficiaries of the slush funds.

The TMG said on Friday that it has now been “vindicated by the latest revelations from the EFCC about how some INEC chiefs and election monitors shared from N23.3 billion slush provided by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke.”

It added: "With the realization that a good name is better than silver and gold, we stoutly rejected the Greek gift, just as we held our head high in defence of the truth and the best interest of Nigerians.

”The participants in this grand scale bazaar had only one objective: to subvert the electoral process, undermine the votes of the Nigerian people and rig in their paymaster.

“It is utterly shocking that people entrusted with the sacred and heavy responsibility of superintending the electoral process would descend so low to stake the credibility of a critical democratic institution on the altar of quick enrichment.

“In any case, the TMG had always known that the day of reckoning would come for all those who sought to exchange the sacred position they occupy for a mess of pottage.

“The bigger tragedy is the case of so-called civil society organizations which threw the very basis of their credibility as election observers to the dogs.

“We cannot mince words about the fact that these indicted INEC officials and their monetized co-conspirators masquerading as election observers have betrayed the nation.

“They are the unscrupulous elements who give the nation a bad name in the international community.

“It is, therefore, imperative for the EFCC to do a clinical investigation and ensure all those culpable are named, shamed and jailed.

“It is pertinent to recall that in the build-up to the 2015 elections, the TMG kept on announcing that there were anti-democratic forces heavily funded by filthy lucre from the immediate past Presidency which wanted to undermine the electoral process.

“We repeatedly warned all stakeholders to be on their guard in order to wade off all machinations bent on subverting the express wishes of Nigerians.

“It is also worthy to note that the TMG itself was not spared the excruciating pressure and inducement aimed at pushing us to compromise our position.

“For daring to turn down what the enemies of democracy termed, a “juicy” offer, the TMG was repeatedly vilified and persecuted by institutions of the state.

“Even after the elections, TMG Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, was severally trailed by unknown men, who obviously had sinister intentions.

“In the end, the TMG, as an organization, chose not to travel on the path of least resistance.

“As the chickens come home to roost with these weighty revelations from the EFCC, it is time to separate the patriots from the chaff both in civil society and in the INEC.

“For us, the INEC, as an institution, should immediately set up a far-reaching and transparent disciplinary process to make a public example of all those rotten elements who descended so low to drag the institution in the mud.

“It is only by implementing this process of thorough cleansing that INEC can begin the process of restoring public confidence.

“As for those weak characters in civil society, who decided to sell their conscience and shirk their responsibility to the Nigerian people, it is time to account.

“And because our vindication as a civil society coalition rings clear, all we can say is: let the music play and let the traitors who attempted to toy with the nation’s destiny face the melody.”
