100 Witches Storm Government Office Demanding for Their Allowances (Photos)

The alleged witches who stormed the Assembly premises

It was chaos and confusion as over one hundred alleged witches stormed the office of the District Chief Executive over LEAP allowance (Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty) at Gushegu in the Northern region of Ghana Monday morning.

According to information gathered by Starr News, the women who are camped at Kpatinga, Nabuli and Leli'tabari allegedly for possessing spiritual powers stormed the administration block singing dirges and demanding payment of their LEAP allowance.

This resulted in a halt in activities as Assembly officials found it tough controlling the alleged witches. Even after they begged and promised them to look into the matter, the alleged witches refused to leave.

According to the leader of the group Alimatu Sadia, government through the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection registered them as LEAP beneficiaries but they have since received nothing for two years.

She decried government's indifference to the poor and widows as they promised to vote against it. It took a team of religious leaders in the community to calm the alleged witches.

The district officer in charge of social welfare Mr. Tia S. Dokurugu told Starr News that there was little his outfit could do because they had compiled names of all beneficiaries to the headquarters in Accra and was only waiting for the funds to be released for payment.

Read the Shocking Story of a Medical Doctor Who Became an Armed Robber and Car-Snatcher (Photo)

Richard Macaulay Obafemi

45-year old Richard Macaulay Obafemi, will have a long time to rue over the day his life took a wrong turn that led him into armed robbery and car-snatching as has been alleged by the police.

Until he descended into the new career, Obafemi was a medical doctor, who according to his account, had his primary and secondary school education at Ipaja, Lagos State before proceeding to the University College London, UCL, where he obtained a degree in Microbiology in 1987 and later studied medicine at UCL, from 1987-1992.

In 1993, he did the housemanship in Hatsfield, London. In 1996, Obafemi came to Nigeria for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme and was posted to Kwara State.

At the end of the service year, Obafemi took up appointment with the College of Medicine, University of Benin, where he worked for two years from 1998 to 2000, before travelling to Saudi Arabia.

“I worked at the Royal Medical Centre, Jeddah, for four years. Subsequently, I got another employment offer from the University of Ghana, in 2006 and worked there till 2015.”

Continuing the tale, Obafemi who hails from Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State said: “In 2015, I came to Nigeria and visited Kaduna State. During that trip, a car I was driving had an accident and the victim died. I was charged to court and remanded at Kaduna Central Prison. But I was later released from prison on April 8, 2016.

While in prison, Obafemi met and developed friendship with Stephen and Ifeanyi, who were also awaiting trial. After he was released, Obafemi linked up with Stephen and Ifeanyi who had also regained freedom. Within a short time, they convinced him to join their armed robbery and car-snatching gang.

“After I left prison, I had followed Ifeanyi to Asaba and joined their gang, which specialized in snatching cars. We have stolen cars like Lexus, SUV in Lagos State, which I drove to Katsina State to sell to buyers from Niger Republic. I sold one for N450,000,” Obafemi said.

Prodded on why he did not return to Ghana after being released from prison, Obafemi told Sunday Sun reporter: “I didn’t go back to University of Ghana because when I was in prison in Kaduna, I didn’t communicate with them. “When I came out from prison, I found out that there was no going back. I decided to join the armed robbery gang to earn a living. I am married and blessed with three children. I lost my wife, Mary in 2012 while my three children are in Canada.”

A popular Nigerian parlance says, “many days for the thief, one day for the owner of the house.” Again, the Good Book teaches that when the cup of iniquity fills up, it spills over.

For Obafemi and his alleged comrades in crime, the day of reckoning arrived when an alleged member of the gang, Valentine (surname withheld) was arrested in Onitsha by operatives of the Special Armed Robbery Squad of the Anambra Police Command and he spilled the beans, revealing the involvement of Obafemi in their activities who was at the time in a hotel (name withheld) in Onitsha, and explained that he had been there for four days waiting for the gang to bring cars he was to drive to Katsina and onwards to Niger Republic.

Armed with this information, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma told Sunday Sun reporter that SARS operatives stormed the hotel on May 17, 2016 and arrested Obafemi.

The head of SARS, Supol Ben Abang further informed Sunday Sun that the gang had for long been a terror to owners of SUVs, noting that the gang operated mainly along the Awka-Enugu Expressway.

After a series of successful car-snatching escapades, members of the gang would disappear from the town and go to Lagos to cool off, while waiting for the stolen cars to be sold before returning for more operations. It was during the last operation of the gang that Valentine was arrested.

When he spoke with Sunday Sun, Valentine confessed that the gang had been involved in several robbery operations in Asaba, Delta State and Anambra State.

Atleast 50 People Shot Dead at Gay Night Club

At least 50 people were killed and more than 30 hospitalized when a gunman opened fire at a nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning. Authorities are calling the attack on Pulse, a popular gay bar in the city's downtown, an act of domestic terrorism.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said that the gunman, armed with an assault rifle, a handgun and a suspicious "device," began shooting inside the club at around 2 a.m., the New York Times reports.

He continued shooting outside the venue, where an officer tried to confront him, then returned to the club and started shooting again while taking hostages. Police identified 29-year-old Omar Mateen as the shooter.

At around 3 a.m., the club posted an ominous note on its Facebook page: "Everyone get out of pulse and keep running." At 5 a.m., police detonated a "controlled explosion" to clear the club and rescue the hostages, according to the Times.

After a shootout with at least nine police officers, the gunman was found dead inside Pulse. Police were searching the club for possible explosives Sunday morning. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting local authorities handling the incident, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Agents said that the suspect "may have leanings toward extreme ideologies." Police said that the suspect was not from the Orlando area and was "organized and well-prepared," the Times reports.

"This is an incident, as I see it, that we certainly classify as domestic terror incident," said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, according to the Washington Post.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both reacted to news of the shooting. "Really bad shooting in Orlando," Trump tweeted.

"Police investigating possible terrorism. Many people dead and wounded." "Woke up to hear the devastating news from FL," Clinton wrote. "As we wait for more information, my thoughts are with those affected by this horrific act."

Orlando police said the event is unrelated to the murder of Christina Grimmie, the popular Voice singer who was killed while signing autographs after her Orlando show.

New Deadly Group Emerges in Kaduna, Terrorizes Residents

The Kaduna State Police Command has stepped up security following attacks on the residents of the state by a new deadly group called “Yan Shara”, according to Premium Times.

The spokesperson of the command, Abubakar Zubair, stated this in an interview with newsmen on Saturday. Yan Shara, which means “Sweepers” in Hausa Language, has carried out series of attacks on some residents of the state, using dangerous weapons like knives.

Its members, which comprise mostly young adults, now operate in major towns in Kaduna, including Tudun wada, Unguwan Rimi, Kakuri, Unguwan Dosa and Kawo. Mr. Zubair said though the police were not aware of some of the attacks, the activities of the group had been put under control by the force.

He said, “The Kaduna police have all the information about the activities of the gang in some part of the state that include Tudun Wada and Rigasa area and have taken all the necessary steps to bring that to a stop. We never had any other report of such activities from groups like that in recent time.”

“The case of Unguwan Rimi and Unguwan Dosa are new to me now but the police will step up and find out what actually happened. The police are not taking it lightly with such activities of hoodlums in the state anymore.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai had recently assured residents of the state of his administration’s resolve to ensure that the activities of the group were not only curtailed but also totally eradicated.

Catholic Church Threatens to Pull Out of the Christian Association of Nigeria

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

The election for the presidency of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has assumed a new twist as the outgoing President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor is said to have summoned a meeting of the President-in-Council, PIC, for tomorrow amidst reports that the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN, has threatened to pull out of CAN.

Feelers indicated that Dr. Jeremiah Gado, the candidate of TEKAN/ECWA bloc and alleged government candidate for the CAN presidency, has approached an Abuja High Court for unlawful denial as a candidate in the election.

It was learnt that the TEKAN/ECWA candidate was actually looking for an interim injunction to stop the election but the court refused to grant the request. The court instead asked that the parties be put on notice and served to enable them appear before it on Tuesday.

A reliable source close to the umbrella body of Christians confirmed the development, saying Gado had approached the court seeking to address his undue denial as a candidate for the presidential election and some other issues.

According to the schedule of events, the election of a new President to succeed Oritsejafor is billed for Tuesday by the 309 members of the CAN, NEC. The Electoral College has screened the only two candidates - Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle of the Baptist Convention, who polled eight votes, and Prof. Joseph Otubu of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), who scored two votes.

According to the Constitution of CAN, the Electoral College, headed by erstwhile Chaplain to two Nigerian presidents and Head, Aso Rock Villa Chapel, Rev. William Okoye, was expected to screen the nominated candidates and recommend two of them for the National Executive Council for election.

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN and the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria/Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, CPFN/PFN, which nominated the outgoing president, did not present candidates for the election. Following the unresolved dispute in the TEKAN/ECWA bloc the number of candidates for the CAN president was reduced to just two which, some now reason, should have made the Electoral College to recommend the two to NEC for the election.

Meanwhile there were indications last night that the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN, has threatened to severe relationship with CAN, unless the impasse is resolved and adequate opportunity is given to every candidate who had indicated interest in the presidential contest.

Details were sketchy but the CSN was said to have threatened that they would pull out of CAN if the election was not cancelled.

A source, who said it was still top secret as at yesterday evening, claimed that the Catholic Secretariat, making up one bloc of CAN, had sent in a letter demanding that the election was cancelled..."because indirectly they are looking for an ECWA man to lead CAN.”

Convicted Nigerian Frauster on the Run Says She Wants to be Nigeria's First Female President (Photo)

Dr Tina Beloveth Powerful

A convicted fraudster on the run from British authorities has posted Facebook messages claiming she wants to be the first female president of Nigeria.

Tina Beloveth Powerful said she would lobby "my Facebook friends," President Obama, Michelle Obama and David Cameron for support.

Powerful, thought to be living in Nigeria, was found guilty of fraud and false advertising in July 2015, but went on the run prior to being sentenced.

Her Facebook page suggests she has returned to teaching, with one post saying she is "on my leadership training mission". And a recent post headlined "women leadership" talks about women becoming presidents of their countries.

In it, Powerful wrote: "I desire most unreservedly to become the first Nigerian female president sooner than later. I have been nursing this feeling since my mama born me." She added: "I strongly believe that my Facebook friends, President Obama and Mitchell (sic) Obama, my long-time outstanding friends, Rt. Hon. David Cameron my allied and host of other powerful women and civilized men nationally and internationally will support me massively."

Powerful, 48, formed Multi-Diversity College while facing charges of fraud and false advertising over the Milton Keynes-based Everest School of Transformational Management. She had offered courses and degrees she did not have the correct accreditation for and advertised facilities that did not exist, including a library.

She was convicted over the Everest scam but failed to appear for sentencing. Powerful, 48, skipped bail ten months ago after being found guilty of running a bogus business school.

A warrant has been issued for her arrest in the UK.

The BBC understands Powerful and her husband, Emmanuel Onyedike flew back to their native Nigeria last year following a death in the family.

Shocking! How an 11-year-old Girl Seduced Me and Turned into My S*x Slave - 65-year-old Ibadan Man Alleges

A large crowd which gathered at the Oyo State Police command, Eleyele Ibadan watched in disbelief as a 65-year old man, Akinlolu Ogunlade, claimed that pressures from an 11- year-old girl made him to keep her as s*x slave for four days, Vanguard reports.

According to him, he had rejected many invitations from the girl before he finally succumbed.

While being paraded by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, who described the suspect as a serial r*pist, Ogunlade said, “I am 65 yrs old and I work as a plumber. I was arrested at Akobo area.

"The little girl came over to me and started disturbing me to have s*x with her and I told her that she was too small. I told her she could not do something of such but she replied by telling me that she could do it. “I thereafter had s*x with her two times and kept her in my custody just for four days.”

When asked if he did not have a wife, he said, “I am married but my wife is dead and I have only one child”.

The police alleged that the suspect specialised in abducting teenage girls and keeping them in his hideout as s*x slaves.

Narrating how the old man committed the alleged offence, the CP said: “The victim, 'Bisi (surname withheld)', aged 11, left home on May 27 at about 8pm for a church vigil at Abidi-Odan area, Akobo, Ibadan but did not return home on Saturday and all efforts to locate her whereabouts proved abortive.”

“However on May 30, at about 16:30, police detectives, based on information, traced the victim to the hideout of the suspect at Abidi- Odan area of Akobo, Ibadan where his victim was rescued.”
