How Poor Residents Connived with Boko Haram Terrorists to Destroy Jonathan's Administration - Borno State Governor Reveals

The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has alleged that some poor residents of the state intentionally connived with Boko Haram insurgents to cripple the efforts of the military and frustrate the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Governor who is also the Chairman of Northern States Governors’ Forum, NSGF, made the shocking revelation in Kaduna.


He revealed further how the poor residents would collect money from the terrorists to give information that will compromise the military.

He said, “Poverty, Poverty and I say again, poverty, is to many of us, the number one monster dragging backward, our Northern Nigeria. “For instance, in June, 2013 (while President Jonathan was in power), we recorded a good number of extremely poor persons, who were recruited for as little as N5,000 to either spy on soldiers and report their vulnerability to insurgents, attack and set schools ablaze by late night or in some cases, poor old women were paid similar amounts by insurgents, to either keep arms in their huts or smuggle arms from one point to another.

“One case I always remember is that of one Musa Grema, a 13 year old boy who revealed that he accepted N5,000 to set three of our primary schools ablaze and also spy on soldiers, because his parents relied on him for their feeding.

“Some may argue that theirs are societies with common tribes while ours in northern Nigeria, is the multi-ethnic reality of the African mix, as some researchers call it. This African-mix is ordinarily a comparative advantage and we can make it so.”

Presidency Confirms 236 Died in the Accidental Bombing of Civilian Community in Borno

President Muhammadu Buhari's media aide has corroborated the assertion of the Chairman of Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State, Babagana Malarima, has said 236 were killed in the Air Force’s accidental bombing of an internally displaced people’s camp in the state’s northern town of Rann.


Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu made the staggering revelation while speaking on a popular TV programme - Sunrise Daily on Channels TV Monday.

According to him, that was the death toll as at Saturday, January, 21, 2017 with others lying in very critical conditions. Before Shehu's comments, authorities had said about 54-65 people were killed.

But Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF, one of the humanitarian agencies which lost volunteers to the tragedy, said local sources confirmed over 170 dead.

Military authorities claim the accidental attack was carried out following an intelligence report about the movement of members of the Boko Haram sect in that region.

The federal government has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting in South Africa of the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria reality show.


Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has asked the NBC to determine whether Multi-Choice has breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way, by shooting the show in South Africa, as well as the issue of possible deceit, since the viewing public was never told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria.

“As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” Mohammed said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mohammed noted while concerned Nigerians have bombarded his office with calls to complain about what they regard as an anomaly – shooting outside the country a show meant for Nigerians, he urged them to remain calm while the NBC investigates the issue and submits its findings.

Ghanaian actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson has lost her dad.

According to details from her, the dad died on Monday. Yvonne confirmed the sad news early Tuesday but didn’t give further details, reports StarrFM.

Nelson had a sour relationship with her father before he died.


Disclosing why it was so, she said: “My dad was not a part of my life because he wasn’t there for me. So, I almost do not say anything about him because there is no relationship or love between us. My dad is like any other person out there because I didn’t have a chance to develop a relationship with him. We have each other’s phone numbers and he calls me when he feels like talking to me. It always feels like talking to a random person because there are absolutely no feelings whatsoever.”

She further added: “Sometimes our society makes it hard for us talk about things like this. But, it’s my story and I don’t have any other way to say it and I don’t want to sugar-coat it. He was never a part of my life and it is quite unfortunate. We actually have an ‘okay’ relationship and it’s not like I won’t talk to him if I see him today. But it ends there because we do not have a relationship. Talking to him is akin to talking to someone you don’t know.”

A man has shared the heartbreaking story of a UNIOSUN female student who allegedly died after hospital's refusal to treat her due to her inability to make an initial payment of N10,000.

Below is how a Facebook user, Ajewole T'Wizzy, shared the heartbreaking story on social media;


"Today being one of the saddest moment of my life.. I lost someone so dear to me, the person of Odeyinka Ganiyat Feyisara, someone that I just met in a short while thinking we were going to have a good time together.

"She was a nice person. I had the feeling that she was going to be one of the best female friends I ever had.. All my hopes were cut short when the news got to me that she died this morning after a mild sickness and the community hospital refused to begin treatments on her due to lack of funds which her parents could sort out after the whole treatment.

"Mere looking at it, they requested for just 10 thousand naira (#10,000) which I myself could afford at that moment...But I wasnt there for her, i got there just too late..#sobs..They didnt begin treatment on her.

"They just recommended some experimental drugs for her which ended up as an over dose, and lead to constipation...and i lost her, ..Odeyinka Ganiyat Feyisara.. I am so sorry i wasnt there when you needed me the most...I can never forget you.

"RIP..May your soul rest in perfect peace."
