23 year old Miss World Kenya-Nyamira County 2016 passes away
Last year, a photo of two Kenyan beauty queens and two inmates at Lang’ata Women’s Prison went viral with online users pointing out that the prisoners are more beautiful than the queens.
The photo shows the late Miss World Kenya-Nyamira County (second from left) and Miss World Kenya-Siaya County posing next to two female inmates, including Ruth Wanjiku Kamende, who stabbed her boyfriend 22 times, during a visit on International Women’s Day.
Mokeira died aged 23 on Saturday, January 28, at 11:30am at North Kinangop Hospital, where she had been hospitalised since mid January 2017.
Mercy Mokeira had fallen ill last year December and was admitted to a hospital in Kijabe after complaining of neck pain. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with thyroid disease. She got well and was later discharged.
Her blood samples were taken to Nairobi for testing on Tuesday, but before a report could be presented to North Kinangop Hospital, she died.
“My first born child, Mercy Mokeira, died today (Saturday, January 28) – and my family is headed to North Kinangop Hospital to transfer her body to a morgue in Gilgil. It is such a sad day for me,” her father, Josephat Momanyi told EDAILY on phone at 8:50pm Saturday.

Elaine Goodman, 46, said she was “truly, truly hurt” by what she had done after pleading guilty to the charges. But she walked free from court after her lawyer said putting her behind bars was not the answer.
James Liguor told the judge his client was sorry and “hurt to the core by how much she hurt so many people”.
Goodman was arrested and charged with fourth-degree rape after Smyrna police received a report claiming the woman had s*x with a minor. The boy had snuck out of his home early morning on March 15, 2015, to meet with Goodman around 1am until 4:30am where they engaged in intimate acts inside her car.
The boy at one point told the Children’s Advocacy Center that Goodman kissed him and undressed before they had sex.
Police recovered DNA evidence from Goodman’s vehicle, clothing and the cell phone she used to communicate with the boy. Goodman wept in court, acknowledging that her actions “hurt people,” which was “terrible.”
“I know sorry is just a word, but I really am,” she said.
Deputy Attorney General Denise Weeks-Tappan said the mother only thought about herself without considering the boy’s well-being.
“The crime has affected the victim in many ways,” Weeks-Tappan said. “He’s hurt, embarrassed and it is affecting his schooling.”
She was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to attend s*xual disorder counseling and to be registered as a s*x offender.

But sources within the information unit of the Assembly, who spoke with DAILY POST in confidence said the embattled speaker was only “suspended.”
The sledge hammer was not only on the speaker as other principal officers, including the Deputy speaker, majority leader and others were also sent packing by the legislators.
The aggrieved lawmakers have also appointed an acting Speaker, Mr. Malachi Coker, from Ilaje constituency II, while Hon. Ayodele Arowole from Owo state constituency I was picked as his deputy. Also, Hon. Olamide George from Akure north State constituency has been appointed as the Majority leader.
The suspension followed an incident, where the house paymaster was allegedly caught by members of the assembly with the sum of N15million at the premises of the Assembly. When confronted, the paymaster said he was acting on the instruction of the suspended speaker, Princess Jumoke Akindele, who ordered him to bring the money to her residence.
The house which eventually sat at about 5pm moved that the leadership under Akindele had failed, as the lawmakers were not aware of the approval of the said sum.
However, DAILY POST gathered that the removal of Akindele as the speaker was beyond the issue of fraud. It was learnt that majority of the lawmakers are only preparing the ground for the incoming governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, who will be sworn-in on February 24.
Another source also said the lawmakers decided to sack Akindele because she had not been protecting their interest despite her closeness with Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
Recently, the lawmakers rejected 38 bills sent to the Assembly by Mimiko on the ground that the governor must pay them their allowances before they could act on them.

For some time, the Nigerian entertainment media has been awash with stories confirming the quarrel brewing between Harrysong and his former label, Five Star Music. Harrysong even left the label to float his own, Alterplate Music.
However, new information has shown that the altercation between Harrysong and Five Star Music may have gotten to an entirely different level.
According to an LIB report, reliable sources have just confirmed that Harrysong was picked up at his home this morning by Mobile Police men.
The report shows that he's currently being held on counts relating to breach of contract, fraud among other issues at an undisclosed location.
Efforts are being made to get official statements from the Five Star Music camp.

Matharoo Sisters Fail to Appear in Court, Bench Warrant Issued

Politics Nigeria can exclusively confirm that Canadian courtesans, Kiran and Jyoti Matharoo failed to show up in court today to continue a hearing on their case.
The two sisters alongside their Nigerian accomplice, Babatunde Oyebode a.k.a Baudex are currently facing charges of extortion, cyber-bullying and blackmail.
The trio met their waterloo after trying to blackmail billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola.
The case, with file no. A/203/2016, which is between the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the 3 defendants following a petition filed to the police by Otedola, was called up at about 10:03 am on Wednesday.
Only Oyebode and his legal counsel showed up. Spotting a brown blazer and black trousers, Oyebode briskly walked to the stand.

When queried by the presiding judge, Justice E.A Ojo on the whereabouts of the girls, Oyebode quickly stated that he had no knowledge of their whereabouts.
After having a brief chat with court officials, Justice Ojo issued a bench warrant for the girls and placed an order for their sureties to show cause.
Justice Ojo then filed for the case to be transferred to the Federal high court in Lagos.
The matter has been adjourned to the 1st of March 2017.
The absence of the ladies in court today has fueled rumors that the two sisters allegedly fled Nigeria silently last week. It is believed the sisters are still in possession of some digital copies of compromising pictures and videos of randy businessmen and politicians discovered on laptops and iPads seized from them by the Nigerian police.

The tragic news was broken on Facebook with pictures of the accident scene to back it up.
