Police have foiled an alleged ISIS attack to kill diners with a machete at a restaurant in New York on New Year's Eve.
Emanuel Lutchman, 25, had plotted to kill innocent civilians on behalf of the terrorist organisation in the Rochester area of the city tonight, federal prosecutors said.
Authorities say he has now being charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS ahead of plans to join the organisation overseas.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine
