Nigerian footballer John Utaka wins Japanese League Highest Goalscorer Award

Former Super Eagles striker, John Utaka, was on Tuesday given the highest goalscorer award for his wonderful season in the Japanese top flight - the J1 league, after he scored 19 goals for his club - Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He won the award with Leandro of Vissel Kobe FC who also scored 19 goals.

With this award, 32yrs old Utaka becomes the second African player to win the award in Japan after Patrick Mboma, who won it in 1997 after scoring 25 goals for Gamba Osaka.
