It was a sad day on Friday as a soldier and three other persons lost their lives on the Nyanya end of the Abuja-Keffi Expressway after an articulated vehicle lost control and ran into several other vehicles.
The accident left about 10 other persons with varying degrees of injuries in the accident which involved 19 vehicles.
Situation report by the obtained from the Federal Road Safety Corps revealed that the accident occurred around 9.30am.
It was learnt that officials of the FRSC, the police, the Nigerian Army, National Emergency Management Agency, Lifeline Ambulance and the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency spent several hours trying to rescue the victims and evacuate the damaged vehicles from the expressway.
According to the report, some of the affected vehicles include: a Toyota Corolla with registration number AE 232 MGU; a Toyota Corolla with registration number BWR 446 AA; a Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC 418 GR; a Mitsubishi vehicle with registration number AWK 623 YF; a Volkswagen Golf with registration number TRN 209 AE and a Toyota Coaster commercial bus with registration number GGE 674 XJ.
The Spokesperson for the FRSC, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, said three men and one woman lost their lives while nine men and one woman were injured.
He said, “The crash occurred at Nyanya. It involved 19 vehicles. I was told an articulated vehicle lost control and ran into several vehicles.
