Suspected Kidnapper Escape Being Lynched By Irate Mob In Ogun

A suspected kidnapper was rescued at the weekend by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The NSCDC Divisional Office at Osiele received a distress call that an irate mob had descended on a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a child on his way to school, hence they ran after him, caught up with him and beat him to pulp.

The caller explained that all attempts to prevent mob action proved abortive and he decided to call NSCDC. The suspected kidnapper (name withheld) denied the allegation, saying he ran only when he saw people chasing him with cutlasses.
