At least 15 shots were reportedly fired during the incident, which occurred around 2am local time in a bar named Doubles in the town of Hamilton. One person is said to have been killed with fears the gunman may still be active.
A witness revealed how drinkers were forced to play dead during the shooting, in which two people were injured.
Police have not yet confirmed any details about the shooting. The bar was the site of a double shooting in August last year.
