The Somanya township is currently in a state of shock after a final year female student of the Yilo-Krobo Senior High School committed suicide. The student, Eunice Lartey, was found hanging on a rope tied to the branches of a Mango tree near a popular road known as the “DC Road” in Somanya. The lifeless body of the deceased has been deposited at the Atua Government Hospital morgue, with an autopsy yet to be conducted.
The Somanya Police command are investigating the circumstances that led to her death. According to a reliable source, the deceased who was promoted to form three this year sought for a transfer to Akro Senior High School in the same Municipality, but was asked to start all over again at Year One.
The issue is said to have caused her sleepless nights. Often, she complained to her aunt how retrogressive it was for her to start at Year 1 at her new school, hence Thursday’s decision to hang herself.
