Lionel Messi has decided against signing a contract extension at Barcelona and will look to see out the remainder of his current deal before deciding his future, according to Marca.
The report claims Messi, 29, informed club officials in mid-July that he has no intention of penning a new deal.
It is understood that Messi's battle with Spanish tax authorities is one of the reasons why he does not want to renew his contract with the Liga champions.
However, the Barcelona hierarchy remain optimistic their star man will put pen to paper on fresh terms.
