The announcement was done via the MTV Base Africa twitter page ahead of the show. The singer beat African heavyweights including Black Coffee and Cassper Nyovest from South Africa, Olamide and Ali Kiba of Tanzania.
Only last month, the 26-year-old music star also won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards.
