Governor Yari Abubakar Signs 2017 Budget Of N115 Billion Into Law

Zamfara State governor, Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar, has signed 2017 budget of N115bn into law. While signing the budget into law, governor Yari reiterated the determination of his administration to better the lot of the people.

The signed budget is eight billion Naira higher than the 107 billion naira earlier presented to the state House of Assembly.


The governor said the appropriation bill for 2017 would serve as budget of consolidation and will consider the enhancement of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue to enable his administration meet the yearnings and aspirations of the entire people of the state.

He commended Zamfara lawmakers for the urgent passage of the budget, describing the effort as timely as it would give his administration the opportunity to make feasible study towards ensuring the provision of basic amenities to the entire people of the state.

The Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Sanusi Garba Rikiji, gave reasons for the jacking up of the 2017 proposed budget by the State Assembly.

“After we carefully scrutinized the content of the proposed 2017 budget of over N107 billion presented to the house earlier, we closely worked to ensure that peoples demands in all nooks and crannies of the state were covered,” he said.

Rikiji said, the estimate on capital expenditure stands at over N74 billion as against over N70 billion, while recurrent expenditure had been increased to over N41 billion as against the over N34 billion as earlier presented.

He explained that the sum of N115 billion Naira was finally agreed by the House of Assembly as the 2017 budget.
