Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first Champions League appearance for Manchester United in their 1-0 defeat to Basel, saw in him play in Europe’s elite club competition for a seventh different club.
No other player has ever attained that feat, with the Swedish striker now playing 120 times in the competition across spells at Ajax (19), Juventus (19), Inter (22), Barcelona (10), Milan (16), Paris Saint-Germain (33) and now one at United.
Ibrahimovic only recently returned from a long injury lay-off in their 4-1 win over Newcastle last weekend.
There were fears for his career when he sustained a serious knee problem in the Red Devils’ Europa League semi-final second leg against Celta Vigo last season.
Jose Mourinho’s men conceded a late goal by Michael Lang in Switzerland. The defeat means that they aren’t quite yet assured of their spot in the last 16.
