Nhi
Nhi's story is a very touching one. When Nhi was just six, an unknown attacker threw acid on her, creating serious wounds to her head and blinding her in one eye. The little girl was seriously maimed by the acid attack.
After seeing the tragic girl on her travels around Vietnam, hairdresser and beautician Wendy Vu was determined to do something to help her. The selfless hairdresser felt pity for the little girl and her condition and began raising funds towards a life-saving surgery for the little girl.
Wendy said: "I was appalled by what I saw, and aware that the girl's mother was extremely poor and that in Vietnam there is no national health service, I decided to embark on a fundraising initiative to pay for essential basic medical treatment that Nhi requires."
Nhi and Wendy Wu
Since first meeting Nhi last year, Wendy has staggeringly raised over £5,000. Her efforts are all to provide care and treatment for little Nhi.
The compassionate hairdresser even went back to Vietnam to check up on Nhi again in May. She was able to see the effects of her amazing charitable work, as Nhi’s surgery was a huge success.
Heartbreakingly, doctors in Vietnam have told Wendy that Nhi is now suffering from an infection in her head and her eye. More treatment is needed to protect Nhi, and Wendy is determined not to give up on her.
You can donate towards Wendy’s campaign on her JustGiving page.
