UPDATE: Yunusa Arraigned In Bayelsa, Remanded In Prison

The controversial case has kicked off at the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The young man who allegedly abducted 14-year-old Ese Oruru from Bayelsa to Kano State, Yunisa Dahiru, aka Yellow, has been arraigned, for his alleged offences.

According to reports, the young man was arraigned on six counts, including the abduction and unlawful carnal knowledge of the teenage girl, Ese, who hails from Ughelli North in Delta State.

Yunusa has been remanded at the Okaka prison in Yenagoa.

Sources say the state Director of Public Prosecution will have to make inputs on how to proceed with the trial, especially now that Ese is already pregnant and Yunusa can't be charged for r*pe.

It would be recalled that Ese was allegedly abducted by Yunusa, a customer at her mother’s food stall, in August 2015, from Bayelsa and taken to Kano, where her parents had said their teenage daughter, having been converted to Islam, had been forced into child marriage, without their consent.

Yunusa's parents on their part said they helped Ese, because she was in love with their son, and that was why she left her home and followed him all the way from Bayelsa to Kano.
