Woman Commits Suicide, Leaves A Note Behind Which Reads: 'Marrying My Husband Was The Worst Mistake Of My Life'

A woman from New Delhi who killed herself is thought to have left note saying marrying her husband was 'the worst mistake of her life' and that she could no longer take the pain. Priyanka Kapoor Chawla, 25, was found hanging in her South Delhi flat by police after her parents informed the authorities that she might be missing. The aspiring model had married wealthy businessman, Nitin Chawla, 35, three months earlier. He was arrested and is suspected of having put pressure on her to get her family to pay him a larger dowry.

In Mrs Chawla's suicide note, she said that her husband forbade her from meeting friends and would beat her if she disobeyed him. She wrote: 'marrying Chawla was the worst mistake of my life. The experience has been painful and I cannot take the beating any more'.
