A 25-year-old woman is currently passing through the worst moments of her life after her colleague bathed her with hot soup during an argument over slippers. The victim, Rita Anim, a restaurant attendant, together with her two-year-old child suffered severe burns when they were drenched with the groundnut soup. According to AdomNews, the unfortunate incident was confirmed by the Tema Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng. She explained that the victim and suspect whose name was given as Charlotte, both employees in the same restaurant had exchanged slippers. But Rita had returned the suspect’s own to her and demanded hers since it had been with her colleague for a long time.

The suspect, Charlotte out of anger rather gave the slippers to one Obaa Yaa who failed to give it to Rita but left it in one of the rooms at the restaurant. So a furious Rita confronted Charlotte which resulted in a heated argument between the two, and, when Rita turned to revert back to her post, Charlotte picked the boiling groundnut soup which was on fire and poured it on her [Rita] who was holding her child.

The victim and the two-year-old were quickly rushed to the hospital and the case was reported at the Kpone district police station.

ASP Juliana Obeng said, Charlotte was arrested and charged with causing harm. She was quickly arrange before court and had been remanded in police custody. She is expected to reappear before court on May 3 for trial.

Meanwhile, ASP Juliana Obeng is appealing for support for Rita whom she says is in critical condition.

Though her young child is in stable condition, the Tema police PRO said the victim’s condition is between life and death.
