A mother suspected of burying her newborn baby girl by the side of a road has been arrested.Police found the infant in Los Angeles after two sisters heard a faint cry from the ground close to their feet. Evangelina McCrary first noticed the sound, asking, ‘Can you hear the baby crying?’ Her sister Angelica thought it must be a cat at first, as she couldn't believe there could be a child beneath pieces of asphalt and debris in a hole in concrete.
But as they kept listening, they grew convinced it was a baby, and called 911. When the LA Sheriff’s Department arrived, they removed pieces of concrete and found the newborn.
