In the footage a queue of prisoners ' families are queueing at the gates of the jail to see their loved ones. But one by one they go past the man and hand him something before he lets them pass.
The clip which was recorded at a prison in Culiacan, Mexico and has been shared across social media with many believing the man was taking cash from the relatives. In the recording at least a dozen people line up to be let through in what looks like a well-rehearsed routine.
The guard has since been suspended from his job.
According to Mirror Online, Rigoberto Iniguez Celaya director of Social Reinsertion at the prison said an investigation was taking place to decide if the guard will lose his job or be reinstated.
