Ex Premier League Manager Set to be Named New Super Eagles Coach

Harry Redknapp
The UK Daily Star has exclusively reported that 69-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp could be the new head coach of the Super Eagles in a shocking appointment.

The Nigeria Football Federation appointed Salisu Yusuf as interim manager this week to take charge of two upcoming friendlies against Mali in Paris on May 27 and Luxembourg on June 1. But Redknapp, who was once tipped to become England coach, has been reportedly approached to take over the Super Eagles full time.

Daily Star claims that a source close to the team revealed Redknapp could be named as the next permanent Nigeria manager within a few days.

He is largely untested at international level after narrowly missing out on the England job to Roy Hodgson.

Last month Redknapp, finished a two-game deal managing Jordan – reportedly a favour for the country's FA president, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein. Now Redknapp is free to prepare for Nigeria’s opening African Cup of Nations qualifier in September.

He has worked with ex-Nigerian internationals in the past, notably with Kanu Nwankwo and Peter Utaka at Portsmouth. They went on to win FA Cup with Kanu grabbing the winner.
