Robber Leaves Bank Empty Handed After Deciding That A Female Cashier He Saw Was Too Sweet And Nice To Rob

A robber left a bank empty-handed after deciding that the female cashier he saw was too “super sweet” to rob. Edward Gilbert, 34, went into the branch of Santander in Leicester intending to hold it up. After approaching the female cashier, he had a change of heart because she was “too nice” and “super sweet”. He walked out of the branch but returned later and threatened to shoot her male colleague.

Gilbert waited in queue before demanding his victim filled a plastic bag with money. Leicester Crown Court heard he also threatened to shoot the male worker  who activated a security screen.

Gilbert, from Leicester, fled from the bank at 2.30pm on March 18 and handed himself in to a police officer 30 minutes later. He admitted attempted robbery and was jailed for 12 months.
