NAFDAC Seizes Fake Drugs, Shut Down ‘Pure Water’ Factory In Osun

The Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated fake and unregistered drugs worth millions of Naira in Osogbo and Ilesha areas of Osun state.

In the raid carried out on Friday, April 8, the agency also sealed off some pharmacies and sachet water factories in the state Officer in charge of Investigation and Enforcement of the agency, Francis Onaniwun, said the essence of the raid was to sanitise the market and ensure that only wholesome products approved by NAFDAC are in circulation.


Onaniwun, who led officials of the agency in the operation, said the agency will not relent in its effort in safeguarding the lives of the people. Some of the pharmacies sealed by NAFDAC in Osogbo included Akol Pharmaceutical Limited and Raphabalm Pharmacy, while Felfam Healthcare and Supermarket at Fegbewesa were given strong warning.

The agency also sealed off Topawo Feeds Services at Alekuwodo and Atlab Farm Products located at Okinni, Osogbo, for selling unregistered animal feeds. The NAFDAC officials also raided the popular Orisunbare market in Osogbo where some shops were sealed for selling unwholesome products.

According to NAN, the agency also seized unregistered and expired food products such as wines and cosmetics.

At Ilesa, Akewusola Chemist and Supermarket was also sealed by NAFDAC officials, with unregistered drugs worth millions of Naira confiscated.

The agency also shut down a pure water factory, Royal Step Nigeria Limited, for refusing to renew its registration licence since 2007.
