Three Die As Police Raid Deadly Kidnappers’ Den

Two suspected kidnappers and a security guard were shot dead as operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command stormed a kidnappers’ den in the Ganjuwa area of the state.

It was gathered that a shootout occurred between the kidnappers and police operatives around 11am on Saturday when the patrol team and members of a security firm, identified as Danja Security, invaded the hideout.

Two women, identified as Maryam Shu’aibu and Hauwa Karfe, who were taken hostage in the den, were said to have been freed by the operatives from the hideout located in Buzun Forest.

It was learnt that the hoodlums engaged the police operatives in an exchange of fire, during which two of the kidnappers were killed.

Sadly, a member of the Security, identified as Mustapha Gali, was also shot dead by the kidnappers.

It was gathered that the police recovered one rifle, with beech no. 2016576, one magazine and 15 rounds of live ammunition from the den.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the deaths, adding that the case is under investigation.

He said, “All the casualties and the rescued victims were taken to the General Hospital, Kafin Madaki, for medical attention. The two suspected kidnappers and the Danga Security member were certified dead by a medical doctor, while the rescued victims are in stable condition.”
