Court Sentences 31-Year old To 3-Years In Jail for Attempting To Sell Baby For N150,000

A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, has sentenced a certain Ifeanyi Kelvin Okorogu to three years in prison for attempting to sell a 3-day old baby.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), arrested Ifeanyi, 31, last year December.

Ifeanyi, according to the charge sheet signed by Unimwen Aigbeze, of NAPTIP accused him of attempting to sell the baby of a 16-year-old girl to Angela Tokees Nwaelechi, on December 1, 2017.

The offence is punishable under Section 29 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

The Nation reports, that on Thursday, Justice Inyang Ekwo sentenced Ifeanyi to two years on the first count and one year on the second. He said both sentences would run concurrently.
