Meet world’s youngest tenant who pays rent at age five

How does it sound when you hear that a five-year-old baby who should, ordinarily, spend her allowances on ice cream, candies, etc., is made to use her money to rather pay rent?

Well, that is what a fashionable but no-nonsense mum does — she makes her underage daughter pay rent from what we might even call a “paltry” allowance!

Essence Evans set the cyberspace agog with a simple social media post in which she claims that she makes her baby girl —a five-year-old — to pay rent.

Essence, who is a singer and Yoga fan, explains that every week, the baby girl gets $7 in allowance. But, lest the little girl runs away with an erroneous impression that one is free to do anything one wants with any money that comes into his/her possession, the dutiful mum explains to her daughter that in real world, most people spend most of their earnings on bills, with little to spend on themselves.

To drive the lesson home, Essence explains that she makes her daughter give her $5 back. Breaking down how the money is spent on baby girl’s behalf, Essence writes, “$1 for rent, $1 for water, $1 for electricity, $1 for cable, and $1 for food.”

The unnamed Baby Girl is, however, at liberty to spend the remaining $2 however she deems fit: she could save it in her piggy bank, or do what she wants with.

But before anyone jumps into conclusion that she is being unnecessary hard on her beloved daughter, Essence says, “What she doesn’t know is that the $5 is actually going away in her savings account, which I will give back to her when she turns 18.”

Essence adds that if the daughter decides to move out on her own when she attains adulthood, she will have $3,380 to start off her young life!

“This strategy not only prepares your child for the real world, but when they see how much real bills are, they will appreciate you for giving them a huge discount,” the sagacious mum says, urging her whopping 30,329 followers to share the post on their timelines for other mothers to see.

The post has since received 318,877 shares and 228,000 reactions; while media houses virtually all over the world has turned her simple post into a big story.
