According to dentists, going
to bed without brushing your teeth is like going to bed with faeces in your
mouth. This is because at every time a meal is taken, the bacteria that
naturally reside in the mouth feasts on the food eaten and like every other
living organism, the bacteria excrete waste after a meal. This waste is highly
acidic and breaks down tooth enamel, causing root decay and cavities.
Brushing is therefore
important not just for fresh breath, but because skipping a session might
enhance bacterial buildup in the form of plaque, which can lead to cavities and
gum disease.
Experts therefore recommends
that a gentle dry brush can be done while lying in bed if an individual is too
exhausted to brush.
