You Are an Enemy of the Poor - APC Blast Fayose for Locking Igbo Traders' Shops

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose

APC in Ekiti state has once again condemned the State governor, Ayodele Fayose over the increment in tax and called the act inhumane and an act capable of bringing total unrest.

The APC's spokesman in Ekiti state, Taiwo Olatunbosun condemned the governor and his decision to increase the tax and treating the people as lesser humans while also depriving them of their sources of income as most of the traders whose shops were locked could not afford their daily bread anymore.

He pointed this out after officials of the state tax agency sealed off business premises and about 100 shops belonging to Igbo traders in the state. After they had reached an agreement with Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) officials to pay N5,500. the agency went ahead to seal off shops belonging to the traders.

The statement by Olatunbosun read: “Locking out traders, shop and business owners without allowing them opportunity to remove their valuables are most degrading, wicked, ungodly and inhuman.

The task force men working with some thugs refused the business owners along Bank Road to take the keys to their homes, cash, cheque books, pass books and other documents as they were locked inside, which resulted in Igbo traders that drive the economy of the state to stage a protest.

Zenith and Diamond banks were illegally and forcefully locked up against the customers and the workers at the banks, thereby causing panic as if it was an armed robbery scene.

This is unlike the Fayemi administration that attracted many investors to the state, but, now, unfortunately, Fayose’s actions are driving investors away from the state.

This shows clearly that Fayose is not the friend of the masses as he claims to be. His actions and policies have now proved that he is the enemy of the poor,”

The APC has joined the traders in calling Fayose's action as discouraging because investors will find it difficult to invest in the state because of the high tax.
