A 50-year-old woman who was so grateful to a man for finding her
daughter, and even invited him in for tea and biscuits later realized he had
raped her 7-year-old daughter. The woman became suspicious and started asking
questions when she noticed the little girl’s tooth was loose; she found out the
man she thought was a Good Samaritan had defiled her daughter. “It seems
he knocked her tooth out when he held her mouth to stop her from screaming,”
said the 50-year-old mum.
She told Daily Sun that on Saturday, she had been working in the
kitchen when she realised her seven-year-old child was missing. “It was getting
dark and my son and I started looking for her. “But then a young man arrived at
the house with my daughter on his back. “She was dusty and crying but I thought
she may have fallen and I didn’t worry because I was just so happy my girl was
back.”
The polite young man told the mum and her 27-year-old son he had
found the girl on the street looking lost. He said he questioned her and
brought her home. “But while he was still in my house, I realised my child’s
tooth was missing and that made me suspicious,” said the mother.
The mother spoke to her child and the little girl said she had
gone to her music class. The suspect stopped her on her way home, dragged her
into a nearby field and raped her, the child told her mum. “When she cried, the
man held her mouth so tightly with his hand her tooth became loose,” she said. “I
secretly called the cops and they arrived and arrested the man.”
The angry mum said she is pleased the man was caught. “He
thought he was going to get away with the terrible act but he was wrong. My
ancestors were with me and made me aware,” she said. “Now my daughter is afraid
of leaving the house and going to school. I’m worried this will haunt her for
the rest of her life.”
Police spokesman, Captain Stephen Thakeng confirmed that a case
of rape had been opened against the 18-year-old suspect from Monyakeng. “He was
arrested and is expected to appear before the Wesselsbron Magistrate Court
soon,” said Thakeng.
