Man Begs Lagos Court To Dissolve His 15-Year-Old Marriage After Accusing Wife Of Having Multiple Sex Partners

An Igando Customary Court sitting in Lagos, on Monday, dissolved a a 15-year-old marriage between a 52-year-old insurance marketer, Omotayo Awodiya, and his wife, Olabisi, as the ex-husband accused the wife of having multiple sex partners. Vanguard reported that the court’s president, Adegboyega Omilola, said that it was obvious that the marriage had hit the rocks.

"It is obvious from the testimonies and the respondent’s (wife) refusal to appear in court that the marriage has collapsed. The court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage," he ruled, adding, "Both parties are free to go their separate ways without any molestation."

The petitioner, Awodiya, told the court: "My wife always brings men into our matrimonial home if I am at home or not. She told me that they are her friends and that she could not leave them just because she is married."

Awodiya said his wife was arrogant and stubborn just because she was richer. "She does not respect me and she talks to me as if she is talking to her housemaid or younger brother."  He urged the court to dissolve the marriage, saying, "I am no longer interested."

However, Olabisi, a mother of one, who refused to appear in court, consented to the dissolution of the marriage through a letter from her lawyer.
