Finally, There's A Cure For "Tomato Ebola"

One good thing has definitely emerged from the recent hardship that has been plaguing Nigeria for weeks now. There is now a cure for the disease that has been eating up the tomatoes in Nigeria that is known as ‘Tomato Ebola’ - Tuta Absoluta maimed.

The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, Zaria, says it has been able to develop a cure.

Alhaji Bala Aliyu, the Public Relations Officer of the institute, revealed the good news to the News Agency of Nigeria in Zaria, Kaduna State on Thursday saying an end had come to the disease, which had been ravaging tomato farms.

The public relations officer said the Director-General of the institute, Prof. Idris Bugaje, has worked extensively to provide a solution to the menace destroying the tomato farm in the country. “This vaccine has been found to be very effective after undergoing various scientific testing,’’ he said.

He also said the institute was partnering with regulatory agencies to certify the vaccine for onward use by farmers and that all things being equal the vaccine would be launched soon for the good of the nation.

“We will work with the state and federal government agencies to carry this important development to our teeming farmers in the country and beyond,’’ Aliyu added.
