Shocking! Woman Buys A Freezer Only To Discover A Frozen Human Foot Inside It (Photo)

A horrified woman has claimed her neighbour sold her a second hand freezer containing her dead mother's frozen body part. According to WTVD, the woman, who did not wish to be named, made the gruesome discovery three weeks after buying the appliance for $30 (£21) from her neighbour. She said she delayed opening it because her neighbour in Goldsboro, North Carolina, told her it was being used as a "time capsule".

The time capsule was part of Sunday school project, the woman was told, and its contents would be collected by a member of the church. But when church officials never showed up, the woman opened the freezer - and discovered the foot of her neighbour's dead mother, WTVD reports.

Speaking to WTVD, the woman said: "She sold me her frozen mother for $30. How do you do something like that?" "[She was] just the sweetest lady. I mean quiet, kept to herself, stayed at home. Just unbelievable how she could just stick her mom in a freezer."

Police confirmed human remains had been found inside the woman's home. The neighbour has reportedly left town and has not been seen.

The woman added: "A church was supposed to come pick up the items inside the freezer. "I was supposed to get the freezer back. The church never came. I decided to open it - my heart was in my throat and I ran outside, called 911. "Lifted the lid and I saw a foot. And I put the lid back down and I tried to analyse what I just saw. And it looked fake so I opened it again and I looked again. But then I recognized the foot. It was her mother's foot."

The body parts have been sent to authorities for identification.
